Hey, folks! Danny Jugan here, lead developer for Axis Football. I want to take a bit of time to explain what our goals are for the game and where we see ourselves going in the future.

Looking at difference between last year's version and Axis Football 2016, we hope a few things are evident. First, we are working really hard to improve this game. We aren't just picking random features to add - we intently listen to community feedback and focus our efforts in those areas. Second, we hope to show that we are in the for the long haul. We made huge strides this past year and plan to do so again in the years to come. We are in this for the long haul, and we are appreciative of everyone's support!

Below is a list of the features we are looking at adding in Axis Football 2017. The list is not set in stone, and funding/support dictates to what level we're able to implement these features, but we would love to hear from you guys on what is important to you! Again, this list is not a set of guaranteed features, but we want you guys to know the direction we're looking at taking this game, and we want to hear your thoughts!

As always, thanks for your support. We've come a long way already, but there is still a long way to go!


Axis Football 2017 Feature List
  • New Teams (College, CFL, High School, Throwback)
  • Customizable league configurations
  • Extended franchise mode with drafts, player progressions, salaries, etc.
  • Extended playbooks
  • Play creator
  • Wind and other environmental effects
  • Coin tosses
  • Improved player models
  • More player animations
  • New game mode: career mode
  • On field play art
  • Better in-game stat presentation (current drive info, 3rd down percentage, etc.)
  • Flipping camera on kicks

Agreed and I have already told him that we need fg,punt,fakes. It would be nice for other trick plays as well like direct snaps and flea flickers.

Is Danny ever gonna address the throw power issue? You shouldn't be able to throw the ball the length of the field. Especially not a quarterback with low throw power.

That was a topic of discussion last year actually but I wasn't sure how or if he would do it. Throw power is based on the speed of bullet passes atm. My proposal was have the circle go only so far based on the throw power but again not sure if he wants to implement this. I think it would be great though and force more strategy.

I think you could do it by making the circle only go so far. Ultimately I think it's a little more realistic though if the circle can go as far as possible, but if you end up trying to throw the ball too far it'll not make it. This way you can get punished for trying to make too risky of a throw.

At one point, maybe not this year. I think he does need to do something with it. I'm pretty positive he'll look at a solution as he begins adding more stats to the game.

Yes additional stats are a must especially for the dline. We need to have stats for all the dline moves addtionally the olineman needs counters.

The passing needs tweaking for sure especially how the players move to the passing target. They move too fast at times and just wait for the pass to get there. It needs to be more smooth in that transition. The addition of catching animations and swat animations would help here as well. but the overall ai for db logic must be looked into. Most of the time i see dbs are out of position to make a play.

Yes additional stats are a must especially for the dline. We need to have stats for all the dline moves addtionally the olineman needs counters.
The stat I'm really looking forward to the most is route running. I hope there is a clear difference in the cuts between a WR with 50 RR, and 90 RR.

One of my biggest grips with Madden is for someone reason you can put a player on the field with 20 RR and he'll still make perfect cuts. I understand the base reason of the stat at least for Madden is to counteract DBs Man Coverage stat. But I think it should serve dual purpose.

Definitely. I hate how you can throw the ball to a reciever running an out the opposite way and he just stops on a dime and turns around to make the catch. You can exploit it by putting a reciever on a streak and throwing it like an out and you'll catch it about 95% of the time.

Dbs are usually completly out of position when you call man coverage. Definitely a lot of work for Danny in the passing department.

Please for the love of all things good have this be optional. I don't buy certain simulation games such as OOTP sports games because it is just a pain the butt to deal with all that crap.

Also will there be proper schedules such as having a 16 game season to play and not playing the same team too many times in season?

Other stuff to fix ....

1. Sack exploit that is pretty apparent in the game right now from what I saw in a video.

2. Penalties being put in the game needs to happen. It is hard to want to play a football game without that.

3. Situations where it looks like it should be a catch and it isn't and situations where a ball definitely should be picked off based on what you see is a problem with the game right now. Animations need to be worked on for sure.

Seriously ....

Focus on the basics first please.

animations are needed. As well as a total passing overhaul (AI Wise, not talking about the circle)But so is a draft, player progression, free agency, etc. Barebones season/"franchise" mode is not appealing.

In coach mode, when you are on offense, you should be able to control the clock and let it run down before the ball is snapped.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE include real franchise mode in 2017. Drafts, salaries, player attributes and attribute progression (training camp +/old age -) are mandatory for a decent franchise mode. Enabling tradesa and draft pick trades is a good idea, too for franchise mode.

i just simmed a game in franchse mode i was oakland versus jacksonville and it ended in a 20-20 tie is this possible and if so when do you guys plan to implement overtime for the whole entire leauge and a indicator when any leauge game finished in overtime and not in a tie could you guys please help with this thanks for reading this and once again great game.

Every body has thier list of what they want to see first. I agree with those that say focus on the basics of football simulation first. While things like franachise mode are important that is almost a seperate game by itself.

Multiplayer also is important but the sim part of playing football needs to feel and play correct before going there.

Just my opinion

I think franchise mode is as important as anything that happens on the field. Franchise mode gives games meaning. Single games I find completely boring.
