Sustainable Fishing
This is refered to in many places, but never explained what it is and exactly how to do it. I'm wondering because I think I'm seeing that if I've fished a lot of a certain kind of fish the previous year, there's a lot less of it the next. Unless this is just the case with redfish and pollack, where they always show up in shades of purple and not going into green.

Is there a way to fish more sustainably than the 'quota' system? Which, by the way, is kind of cruddy because expecially with net fishing, you get all sorts at a spot and if you've hit redfish quota, you're throwing back a lot of fish that end up effecting the population anyway. And none of this 'fast forward to next year to reset it', thank you, I'm aware of this.

So what I'm wondering, if anyone's played past 2-3 years, have you noticed the population changes based on what you're fishing a lot of?

Would leaving something alone for a year help it recover?

And other Population tips you might have?

All i know is that if a spot has 2000 cod in it and you net all of them, they do not regenerate much. If you take only 1000 chances are the next day or 2 they will be back to 2000.. I assume this is how it works.

As i fished one spot with 10-16 x 250 hook lines every day (roughly 24 hours) for a month and it remained pretty much the same brightest spot on the map.

In the early days i tried nets and decimated the spots catching more than i could fit in the hold, and only a faint purple dot remained. It has been patched to some degree since then though.

I think the amount of fish in the spots is not saved (only the positions of the spots). Look at the spots on the map, reload the game, look at the spots, reload...

If that was the case, setting out something and then saving and exiting would make it pretty annoying to come back and find the spots changed.
