I love this game , I see you can purchase Insurance for your boat ,Is it
modelled in game that boats can sink.

Some have said you can, I've never tested it. I have no idea because I'm not a sadist and I'm cheap, I'm not paying for a new ship.

I've been keel up in rough seas more times than i can count and i have yet to sink a ship.... I think that you have to suffer complete hull damage for something like that to happen.

It would make sense to me that you could incur hull damage by blindly going full throttle in rough waters, but it doesn't seem to be implemented into the game (yet)....

Hitting things is the only way I know of to sink a boat. Passing a month or so in dock will do some serious damage, but crew can be assigned to fix damage either way.

I hit the ice up in the north. So if you run your trawler with no-one on the bridge (hehe....) it can crush into the ice so many times the hull is gone.

I haven't tested it completly, but lost easily 10-20% on a few bangs....

I do not believe so. Even flying from the crest of one wave into the trough of another at full speed in the Selfy so that the boat is almost entirely submerged does no damage whatsoever. This is a shame as once you have the hang of docking your vessels, insurance and towing become absolutely unnecessary, thereby also depriving the game completely of any real challenge aside from making it a little more difficult to collect gear. trust me, I really do not believe there is any point in having tow or damage insurance once you've mastered docking - even then one would have to literally ram the dock/jetty a few times to get anywhere near sinking damage. I really wish the opposite were true, it would make the game so much more immersive if this were the case. This could be an option for realism settings for those who want arcade simplicity Vs those who yearn for more realism.

your boats have hull points..... i assume when it reaches 0 .... you lose the boat..

i just have never had much damage.... a storm hit .. and winds were over 18 knots for three days ... i stayed in port ( bad idea in reallife) .... after 3 day my hull was at 30% from storm damage tied to the docks ..... i actually liked that aspect

as far as at seas issues i never seem to take more than 1 % dmg... i have been under water... upside down ... rolled around in strong waves.....

i think it is just one thing that if you do not look after you can lose ... 20+ million of ships and upgrades
