Drop 8- 1000 hook lines in a spot, once they are out I check how long the 1st line has been out (e.g 3hrs) and that tells me how long it took to put them all out. now I head to port (no fast travel) say its 4 hours away. once there I check the 1st line again, it says 7 hrs, so I know it will take 4 hours to get back, thats 11 hours the lines will be out. so I can rest for about 7-8 hours and head back in time to start lifting the 1st line again around 18-20 hours.
also when you leave port, take note of how long it took to get to the spot you want cause if its too far you wont get back in time. pitty we cant drop our anchors and skip tme. (click anchor=skip time ehh??)
@Reddinkill, so waiting more than 22 hours will affect the catch in a negative kind of way..? That clears a whole lot up, because I assumed leaving the line the longer will give you a better catch ratio. The tutorial never went further into this, so I could only assume. Thank you for your advice!
My second mistake was the fast traveling for sure. The tutorial said it was okay to do so, but I was already having a suspicion that it'll only influence the bait ratio in a negative way because you're skipping too much time without me even directly realizing it.. And the not able to skip time while out fishing was for sure a thing that bothered me, too. And the anchor thingy is a great idea, my suggestion for the developers team regarding the skipping time thingy was when you're entering the downstairs cabin lodge you should be able to 'sleep' on sea and skip the time by clicking the clock that is hanging there (at least in that simple wooden vessel you launch your career in, not sure how the more advanced boats are designed) - that for sure saves the effort on getting back to the dock and more importantly the fuel usage.
Anyway, what I will do for sure in my next fishing trip (as someone not experienced as you three obviously) is using mackerel as bait in a 250¤ hook line as a noob startup and see how that'll work out on the catch ratio, leaving it there for maximum 18 hours by getting back to the dock without fast travel. Underwhile I will check the time it takes on traveling from certain spots. With that keeping in mind I can calculate certain rest times and the point of arrival on the ETA. I think not leaving the harbor too far is a great idea for the first few round, don't you agree? Thanks for helping out folks, much appreciated!
