When does the fishing season(s) finish and restart? or do they??
I have kinda worked my way out of a job at he moment... Have the 3rd boat and have filled my quota on everything except Pollack. But when I go to fish for that, even though I put down a decent length net or longline, I get hardly any return. I don't think I make enough to pay my fuel bill. So, advancing the game to the next year as I have read here... January will reset my quota's but the same thing happens! Fishing grounds look pretty much the same as they did in the first season. I read the events section and saw that Hadock are in their spawning grounds to the south ect... so I wasn't really after them or the other fish that arent available in January, but Cod appear to be and I caught very little of those in a decent area that in the previous season would have produced abundently. So, what's the deal? Is this a bug? or is there actually a season start date that happens after the first of the year?

Thanks for the link! I must have done something wrong or perhaps I was using a net when this first happened... what I did now was use a longline and baited it with shrimp to catch the Cod and Pollack. On a 500' line I can normally fill up the boat, but now only about 1/3 of the cargo space gets filled. I'm wondering if this is due to the population being diminished from the fishing? Anyone know? or maybe there's another explaination? The radar pretty much looks the same as far as the size and density of the schools though...

yes if you overfish 1 spot the # of fish get depleated then you will have to wait for thre #'s to come back if you killed them all then i dont know if it will come back

Depleted zones do come back, but it takes a while. I grabbed a really weak zone just outside of the mouth of Akkarfjord with twin 1000m lines and totally scraped the barrel dry. It took over a month to pass ingame before I noticed the zone was back. I don't know if it accually takes a month ingame, that's just the time that had passed before I noticed. I started trawling a couple weeks later and had the map filters off and just happened to turn it back on out of curiosity after a lot of time passed.

could that happen between the start of the game with the beginning ship and when I ended the first season with the 3rd ship in September though? I haven't completely overfished any one area, and like I said before... all the zones look pretty much like they did before I started advancing the clock in October to get to January and a new quota slate... I am really kinda baffled by it tbh...

I am still in the first season (October now) and about to buy the Hermes, I fished mainly targeted long lines to fill the quotas evenly, eventually the pollock became hard to catch but i had filled the other quotas, i stuck to mackerel bait and fished spots that were high pollock and low in other variety, only used 25m and 50m lines and covered most of the South west bay area.

Eventually i had enough money for the Lunar Bow, and then some, still had about 1/4 of my pollock quota to go but just went to the trawler anyhow. I dare say my pollock quota is capped now.

But as to your problem i think you will find the latest patch has nerfed the catch rates.

Version: 1.0.9 - 20.02.2018 (20:00)
Adjusted port info cameras in each port
Adjusted number of fish on longline and in nets now calculated from normal distribution

no the quota is raised with the new ship it seems to be the same with lunar and hermes

This sounds about exactly where I'm at, at the beginning of October I was around 25% of my quota finished for Pollack, but all the zones that had Pollack appeared to have very few fish appearing dull in color, unlike other zones which were nice and brite. So it sounds like I might have to purchase longer longlines since the nerfing of the Longlines and Nets is probably what's going on. Thanks...

when i upgraded ships the quota although bigger followed me so when i bought the lunar bow i had already used a portion ( be it a very small amount in comparison of the total) of my new pollock quota before i even left the dock. I assumed if i revert to a smaller boat in the same season all my quotas will now be at max. If that supposed to be the case?
