Tips for crab fishing
I'm having a hell of a time trying to handle rough seas and pick up pots, my ship goes out of control swaying big time! Whats the answer i am missing something or just wait for better weather? Also i assigned a crew member once to the crane while picking up pots and he got stuck operating it and he would not drop the pot onto the deck to sort. I could not get him off the crane or get him to do his job!! Had to restart to the latest save point! Anyone encountered this? Will note it was in really rough seas as well.

also devs if u read plz increase crab quota for svalbard too at least 500 tons. current quotas end in two cruise

I'm not going to mess with my resolution i can move pots just fine if i'm operating the crane, its only if i assign a crew member to pull the pots from the ocean they get stuck. I started looking at the weather forecast and now i plan to only pull crab pots in 10 knots of wind or less.

Sleep.

It sounds like you and your boat cant handle the weather. It's nothing to be ashamed of, pay attention to the weather forecast. Sometimes, it's just not worth going out.

Crane is still buggy with the AI. I do a drop run run of 25 cages. I have the crane operator put out with a baiter and slowly drift forward. Once 25 are out and i head back until the first boey goes deep into orange. Now i either reset or pick up. Resetting i have the exact same setup as before. Picking up i change crane operator to store and remove the baiter. Anything else screws up the crane AI or animations/storage. Make sure the crane operator and baiter are only in place exactly when you need them, they are AI that can screw up if put in place before you need them.

You can work around the bug with no problem if you know what you are doing...

Thanks for the tips bablonkie, i guess i will just manually haul out the pots until the bug is fixed.

Go slow and steady and you will get to them, takes some practice but it is possible even in big waves..
