I haven't heard ♥♥♥♥ about either the UAP or AME having any kind of malicious code bundled in, though if you get them from a suspicious source anything is possible. If you're on Windows 7 you shouldn't need anything anyway, Windows 10 is the OS is anti-game and requires patches.
Thanks for the response. That's what worries me, I do use Windows 10 on my gaming rig, so I know I need the patches.
I can't recall exactly what the bundle is called, but it's right here on Steam in one of the guides for installation. I'm pretty sure there were mentions of the virus checks in the comments. I'm wondering how much credibility to really give these comments though, which is what led me to post this and take the temperature of the situation.
EDIT: Just found the one I believe I was looking at. It's called Arcanum Multiverse Edition. The comments section has a number of people over a few pages referencing various sites they used to scan the files coming back with bad results. Others are mentioning that their game crashes within 10 seconds or their summons are the wrong colors, etc.
I may be overly cautious, I've just seen way too many hacks.
Because it was one of the prominent posts when I clicked on the game in my library and went to the tiled guide tab? Why are you attempting to make someone feel like they're doing the wrong thing for trying to verify information about something that is posted on Steam that is supposed to be downloaded/used?
Thank you for pointing me to the UAP, but your opening "question" comes across as an attempt to direct the perception of my basic and fair information-seeking post. No one said it was the "only way to fix the game". Maybe there were things in there I wanted? Maybe no one has to justify considering using a guide posted on steam to you?
