But it need in Steam.
And activision most likely would never make a remaster of that, because there is no money in it.

I personally didn't like it. It felt too unpolished and Christof is still one of my least favorite video game protagonists.
If Paradox could remake/remaster it if they really wanted to. I don't predict it'll ever happen though.
Arcanum really needs either a remaster like Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, or better yet a remake whether official or unofficial.
I am a bit surprised that nobody has attempted an Arcanum remake, although I'm even more surprised at the lack of attempts at a Planescape: Torment remake (especially as a mod for NWN 2 since someone already made a Planescape setting module for it). So many other PC classics have been remade (or an attempt was made at least), either officially or unofficially, but nothing for this game... yet. It is never too late.
Arcanum doesn't need a remake, works just fine. Anyway with the complexity in this game it's a waste of time to recreate the game. Better make a new game and take the best parts from it (although I think Arcanum is probably already an inspiration to many existing and future crpgs)
It doesn't work just fine, even with the widescreen patch and unofficial patch. Widescreen patch breaks the Half-Ogre questline once you get to Half-Ogre island, and the restrictions on traveling to these islands needs to be addressed. A remaster or better yet remake could also save its multiplayer, and then there is the obvious outdated technology behind the game. A proper remake on modern technology can bring huge improvements.
A sequel or spiritual successor would probably be mediocre or worse, like Torment: Tides of Numenera. Obsidian hasn't made a great RPG in years, with Pillars of Eternity having objectively far less role-playing than their past games, and Tyranny even less. Tyranny is abysmal on every level really. InXile isn't much better.
I only played KOTOR2 and NWN2 from Obsidian. I loved KotOR2 (I liked it more than KotOR1), but was dissapointed about NWN2, so I didn't look further into their games.
Yes, it would be great to have such a moddable platform. NWN 2 is actually another such game. Its original campaign is lacking, but you should try NWN 2: Mask of the Betrayer, which many believe is Obsidian's greatest work. Fallout: New Vegas, especially three of its expansions, are also exceptional. New Vegas is the most recent RPG I've found that offers comparable amounts of role-playing to Arcanum.
