Dog Died! Can I get another animal?

Making a long story short my dog died by a simple trap and I went to quickload but accidenlty quicksaved over my prev q.save. My last normal save was a little while back and I don't want to clear out some parts of Black Mountain even though most of it was easy. Is there other animal comopanions i can get to replace him? Dog has been really really useful and these fights would have been much more diffiuclt without him.

I'm planning on reloading. I did a little research. Looks like Dog is the only animal companion and is quite special because he doesn't occupy a companion slot so to speak either. Goddangit.

You know, I've never tested whether you can rez him with a scroll or spell.

Dog's the only animal companion in the game, save for any mind controlled/summoned ones.

You can. I stumbled upon the information telling me where Dog is and I rushed over to get him before he died but he was already dead. So I spent all my money on a scroll and brought him back. Good investment in my opinion.

scrolls aren't the only way you can get a tech item that restores life from tarant, you can buy them from the lady in the shop directly north of the telegraph office(it's the shop with the gear sign with the newsboy out front, if it's not there on the merchant walk out and advance a day, check repeat if not there)

handy to have on you and to give to companions when you are a tech based character (they will revive you with it, though it's risky since there's only a short time between death and the death screen)
