ingame screen flickering and lags
Even though I followed the steps for optimizing the performance of Arcanum, the screen flicker a lot still and it lags every now and then. the main issue is the flickering since it may trigger an epileptic reaction in a long term. Does anyone else got this issue and got it fixed? I followed the guide for fixing it on Windows 10 on the Steam community but it didn't help :\ And I'm searching on google and everything but there ain't anything for Windows 10

You can try to run the game in a window. Try downloading the Arcanum unofficial patch and adding -window next to -no3d and -doublebuffer

Did you put the commands into the Steam command prompt or the launcher command prompt? Steam's command prompt doesn't work for this game for some reason.

The windowed mode that the resolution patch provides worked for me once I got rid of the ddraw.dll and inputted the commands properly, although I'm not using Windows 10 on this computer nor do I have another computer with it on it, so I dunno if it'll work as smoothly on 10 as it does on 8.

It's because Steam launches the game's launcher, which launches the exe. Set Launch Options is inputting those commands into the launcher which does nothing.

I tested my fix for slowdown on Windows 8 as well as 10 and the result was identical.

The only game so far I've noticed runs differently between Windows 8.1 and 10 is the game Rune. And there it ran better on 10.

Now I've fixed it. I fixed it with reinstalling the game.. install the "latest" official patch.. and then installing the unofficial patch. and then the high res patch and instead of setting it to 1920 x 1080 I've set it on 1366 x 768 and everything runs smooth. It uses a little higher rez than the original but with widescreen. redo the launcher command prompt with -no3d -doublefilter
and finally delete the directdraw and replace it with the fixed one with two additional dlls in that zip file (in the optimizing guide) and the game runs smooth, no flickering and no loading lags when moving.

and tbh 1366x768 is also imo the best resolution to use it with a widescreen since it uses a little higher rez than the original game and with a widescreen format. 1080p is too much high rez and everything is too small ingame :P

I'm glad it's now working for you.

set the game in your graphic card driver , isometric

In graphic card settings there should be 3d settings. Close every setting for Arcanum or if you are using laptop with 2 video cards then pick the integrated video card for the game.
