Help? Negotiations with Caladon bug?

I have the gog version of this game and I do love playing old school rpg's but I found an issue and in need of a non patch/download fix, I got the quest Negotiations with caladon it is saying that I have to go to caladon and convince the king's advisors to join but nothing about taking to renard so renard is missing and not outside caladon's castle so where is he? if it's a bug how do I fix this without reloading a saved game?

too late for this answer I have uninstalled it and started on another game.
