Great work and great mod
I did not follow the instructions to the letter tho.. i added a check in the software renderer on the Arcanum Config. Otherwise i had some grafik that dident update.
No freezes and no crashes makes for one happy gamer.
Steam does not update games (other than steam api stuff and Valve's own games), it's responsibility of the developers/publishers and Activision is not interested.
GOG.com do stuff like that but strangely Arcanum is one of the few titles they don't do it for so you have to mod the game yourself but generally GOG have a habit of bundling community-made fixes and stuff with a game.
GOG rarely uses unofficial patches with their games and when they do they do so because they found no alternative or unofficial patch provides special functionality (like Master of Orion 2 unofficial patch enabling multiplayer). They do sometimes use fan fixes or create their own to make games work but mostly they just do what ever it takes to for games to work on modern operating systems.
