Coop/multiplayer
Thinking of getting this game, is the coop/multiplayer still functional on steam? Any info helps thank you

The game itself is a story-driven RPG (like Fallout 1-2, but it is obvious) with lots of dialogues, quests etc and it is not possible to play it online (due to many limitations related to the game engine and story line of the game). But there are some additional campaigns (such as Vormantown or Hellgate) which you can play online but these campaigns are short (2-4 hours) Diablo-like campaigns where you can fight enemies and do some basic stuff like crafting items and shopping and nothing more. And this online experience is kinda bad - these campaigns are pretty boring, short and primitive. It feels like poorly made clone of Diablo 2.
As far as I know it is not possible to play it online in 2019 without using additional software. I used GameRanger to play it with my friend but anyway you will be able to play only additional campaigns which could be interesting only if you are a huge fan of the original campaign.
If you want to play great RPG that will similar to Baldur's gate, Planescape:Torment, and original Fallouts - this game is a must have.
But if you want to play it online with a friend - no way. Actually I have no idea why they added multiplayer to the game.
