Mod for better healing AI...?
Virgil just won't heal the other companion I have, so he is constantly at like 30% HP. How am I supposed to fight like that? I don't want to become a healer, I have Virgil for that, and while he will heal ME and HIMSELF up to full health, he'll just leave the other companions near dead.

I noticed that he heals most people, just not Magnus. I usually end up using Jayna's medicine to heal him.

If you don't have Jayna, you can just take one rank in Herbology and make your own healing medicine. Or you can recruit her, and leave her in Dernholm - and keep using her just to make the medicine.

I've found out that Virgil actually heals Magnus, but only in one specific place - in Tarant, near the half-orc who asks you to find his friend, who is in the gentleman's club. No idea why that happens.

GET SOGG, GIVE ALL HEALING SALVES/POTIONS AND SOME MANA POTIONS TO HIM, PROBLEM SOLVED.
Just remember, after a certain point, magic isn't effective on tech users. Virgil doesn't realise this and will still attempt to heal anyone. Your best bet is to make sure your other followers have healing potions/salves in their inventory to use, along with posion cures. Saves a HUGE hassle in tough fights.

Virgil doesn't heal another companion if he's too technological since it would put him in a hopeless cycle of having no stamina -> ragaining some -> attempting to heal the technological companion -> fail -> repeat.

Now, a rare few spots in the game affect the the magic/tech aptitude of the player and all characters within its range. Some examples in Tarant would be the magic shop increasing magical aptitude, or the train station pushing it more towards technology.

So, in your example you were likely close enough to the magic shop that Magnus's aptitude was less technological, therefore Virgil no longer recognised him as a highly technological character and attempted to heal him.

These are some deep mechanics there, I'm amazed.
