How to kill Automatons as a Nonmage?

Like the title says. I'm quite stuck right now with the Automatons in the Vendigroth ruins. I'm level 36, so I could still put more points in Charisma to get more followers (I just have Virgil and Magnus). It's just freaking annoying your weapons get destroyed by those buggers.
Does it make any difference what weapon I use? I probably go and let Magnus make more swords and make more Molotov cocktails.

Are you just a normal non-mage or also tech? If you can get access to pyro axes, they're pretty much the end all of automation destruction since they're incredibly durable and deal nice damage. AFAIK they work pretty well regardless of affinity, just need someone to make them.

Equip war gauntlets and make like Mike Tyson. Gauntlets don't get damaged by golems/automatons.

Hi. Gun works pretty well vs Automatons. Ia always use the Hand cannon + potion of speed. The Tesla Rod is awesome against it from my plays.

Pretty sure axes & maces also don't get damaged through combat with them, but it has admittedly been a while for me.
