Window mode help
I beg everyone pardon to open another topic on this matter, yet I find myself unable to play the game windowed. I tried installing unofficial patch, then Hih-res and then (as the topic on GOG said) renamed the "ddraw.dll" as "ddraw.dll.old" and added the "-window" bit to the arcanum exe.
It still starts as fullscreen and I'm at a total loss.

are you adding -window to the .ini configuration file?

ok it should be the sierra launcher in your highest Arcanum folder... sierralaucher.ini i believe.
All of the options that are mentioned in the guide should be put in that .ini file.

Because we are running on steam, you can't just put the options like you would on other games

Mine looks like this - I don't play windowed but i imagine you just stick it after Game1Cmd=

[Launcher]
Name=Arcanum
NumButtons=1
GameManual=Manual.pdf

Game1Name=Game
Game1Prog=other
Game1Path=Arcanum\
Game1Exe=Arcanum.exe
Game1Cmd= -no3d -doublebuffer -scrolldist:0 -scrollfps:70

......yeah it was a ball ache to apply the mods and ting

For those who dig here. I was able to play windowed mode following instructions under the link. The only difference I made, NOT renamed settings.ini to ddraw.ini. With ddraw.ini it was just white screen. https://dbrown.id.au/arcanum-windows-10.html

Old post I know, but I think the problem was you replaced ddraw.dll before activating the HighRes install file. You're supposed to do it afterward, since HighRes has its own ddraw.dll that it overwrites the existing one with.

Both of them work, but the one from DxWrapper is allegedly better.

You could also try a cutting edge DxWrapper release which may be even better than that: https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/releases In this case you would extract dxwrapper.dll and dxwrapper.ini and rename them both to ddraw.
