Stuttering
Playing 180 side by side videos give a constant stuttering effect.

I have tried lowering settings but this changes nothing. Any ideas? it is showing 90 fps :)

My system is more than capable:

MSI Z170 Gaming M7 | GSkill Trident Z 3200 2 x 8Gb (16Gb) DDR4 | INTEL Core i7 6700K Skylake | Noctua NH-D15 | Seasonic X 650W Gold PSU | MSI Geforce GTX 980Ti Gaming | Window Pro 10 x64

Can you find out what codec the video and audio is compressed in? For example, AVC h.264, MPEG4 Part2, HEVC h.265.

I recommend using a MediaInfo tool to examine the video file such as https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Knowing the codec of your video will help determine why your video doesn't play properly. Here's some simple troubleshooting steps.

First thing to diagnose playback issues is to play the video file in standard Windows Movies & TV or Windows Media Player app that comes with Windows and see what happens. The built in video player in Windows uses the same video decoders (Media Foundation) that Simple VR Video Player is set to by default.

To open, right clicking the video file in File Explorer, Open With..., and choose Movies & TV App or Windows Media Player.

If the video doesn't play or stutters, that means that your version of Windows doesn't support that codec out of the box or your computer just can't playback the video properly. This is especially the case with high res 4k HEVC videos.

Try DirectShow w/LAV
Try using DirectShow with the open source decoder LAV. LAV is the best decoder for video out there now. It supports many more codecs than built into Windows and is faster than LibVLC. In order to use it, first changed the video engine in Simple VR Video Player to DirectShow and then download LAV from the internet and install it.

If you don't have it installed already, the easiest way to install LAV is through a "codec pack" such as K-Lite, Shark007, or Community Codec Pack (CCCP).

Once installed LAV will load automatically when you play a video. You can see it working after installing by playing a video and seeing the LAV icons in the Windows systen tray on the bottom right corner of Windows.

You can set Simple VR Video Player to use DirectShow as its rendering engine under Super Advanced Settings

Many modern Media Players such as MPC-HC use DirectShow as their video backend because it allows for advanced decoders and splitters such as LAV and ffdshow to be used in its renderer. LAV is maintained and updated regularly adding new codec support and fixing issues very often. https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases

With Simple VR Video Player and DirectShow, you can use any third party decoder such as LAV and ffdshow to decode their videos so you can tweak which one works best for you.

So give that a shot and see if that helps.
