Author Sim v1.0.4 - Patch Notes (2026/08/26)

This patch includes the following changes and fixes:

Added an "Auto Start Mini-Games" toggle option in the main menu settings for players who prefer the mini-games to start automatically, without the ready check introduced in the previous patch (v1.0.3)
Added a "Skip Introduction" toggle option in the main menu settings that automatically skips the introduction scene when starting a new life; the option is automatically enabled when the skip button is used during the introduction scene
Added a mini-tutorial introducing the fanfiction mini-game when players encounter it for the first time
Updated the titles and descriptions of the reading mini-game achievements "Perfect Recall" and "Perfect Recall +" to "Speed Reader" and "Speed Reader +", respectively
Added an achievement unlock check at the start of the game to ensure any previously obtained achievements are unlocked on Steam; check was implemented for cases where the Steam connection was disrupted during the previous play session
Fixed the spawn frequency of animated wallpaper elements
Fixed the probability of money-dependent events occurring
Revised the text in app information panels for improved clarity

BUG: All my achievements from my first run through don't show on steam!

Hi! I hope this is the right place to post bugs, I couldn't find anywhere else... All achievements from my first run through show in game, but not on steam achievements. I remember checking for steam achievements during it, and it said there was none, so I guess there was a connection issue then... I really want them to show since I like this game and want to collect the achievements!! I think maybe an update achievements to steam button? Or it just double checks when you open the game? But then it wo...

Photo mini game is ruining my enjoyment

I can't seem to get it correct no matter what, possible due to the type of screen I am using, but this is very frustrating.

some suggestions for the game

1. making tags easier to find. making the little thing that opens up when u try to select a tag bigger to show more tags and adding a search bar may make it easier to find what your looking for 2. making events such as ones where you find a partner decision-based. and like.. kinda make a part of the game more like bitlife in a way 3. unless pairing up with a publisher already does this, a way to have guaranteed synergies to make synergy collection a little easier...

Author Sim v1.0.3 - Patch Notes (2026/08/20)

In this patch, many quality-of-life improvements have been made, most of which were based on feedback from you guys! A huge thank you to the folks who took the time to let me know about the rough spots they encountered in the game. I'm very happy to see the in-game bug report function getting lots of use. Here's a look at some of the changes:

Added a ready check before action mini-games start, allowing players to start the mini-game by pressing the start button or the enter key
Improved the distance-to-volume scaling of the proximity alert in the posting mini-game
Adjusted the fanfiction mini-game difficulty and extended its duration
Fixed the appearance of known synergies in the obtained synergies box in the writing assistant
Added an explanation for an empty obtained synergies box in the writing assistant
Added skip song buttons to the music window
Revised the description of "Dwarf" to remove inappropriate language (Thank you to the person who pointed this out—I didn't realize how it would sound)
Fixed a bookmark display bug that occurred when redoing the tutorial
Revised the text in app information panels for improved clarity
Adjusted the probabilities of several random events
Added an explanation of the current win conditions that appears at the start of a life and after becoming a successful author
Added explanations for disabled progression and statistics buttons on the main menu
Revised the text formatting of money upgrade explanations in the Items Skill Tree, including colour-coding unlocked items by item type
Fixed a graphical error that caused novels to be displayed incorrectly in the published novels section of statistics window
Changed the return button in the lifetime statistics window to navigate back to the statistics overview window instead of the main menu hub
Added visible scrollbars to the tag shelves in the bookshelf window

Simple and repetitive, once I found myself making enough money to be financially stable I found myself getting bored of the gameplay loop and couldn't find a reason to keep playing. Ultimately not for me.

A very unique concept.

This game is surprisingly intricate disguised in a extremely cute game. There is quite a learning curve at first but once you understand how the game works, it becomes addictive.

I really like how time and money actually matter. The more time you waste the more money you will burn through so you really have to get moving and pursue your author dreams before you become broke. Watch out for the CRA the will come for their share of you income too :)

There is a lot more depth here than I expected when I first started playing. Its cute, intricate, compelling and makes you constantly think about what you should do next!

Highly recommend especially if you are looking for a new concept! I have only played a couple of hours so far but I can already tell I'll be spending a lot more time on this game!

How to adjust mini game difficulty?

I'm playing in standard mode, and I can't figure out how I'm supposed to be able to change the difficulty. It's not in any menu I can find. Also, a bit of an issue/suggestion: The mini-games pop up suddenly and with very little warning. It stresses me out a bit because I have no time to prepare. It would be great if the mini-game wouldn't automatically start without input, and would instead give you a pop-up to click through before it launches into things....

This patch is mainly to fix a bug accidentally introduced in the last patch (v1.0.1), changes include:

Fixed an issue where posting on social media occasionally stalls at 100%, eventually causing the game to freeze
Displayed game version number in main menu
