What does this add over free GODOT?
As this is a rebrand of the free MIT licensed GODOT engine, what does this add to justify the price tag? It looks like there are some assets included. What else?

Regarding combat, there are several basic systems currently built-in and ready to go: real-time, tactical turn-based, menu-driven turn-based, and roguelike (all of which are continually being expanded upon with new features and mechanics).

Regarding asset export, although this is generally outside of RPG in a Box's intended scope, there is the ability to export models to OBJ format, which can then be brought into tools like Blender for non-engine use. Models can also be exported to VOX format (MagicaVoxel).

It is for the ease of use, It offers the common person who does not know how to code a simple and easy way to make their own games or whatever else they want to make. No one is being forced to buy this and if they are interested in this program then they most likely have heard of Godot and all the other main game dev software.

The price doesn't need to be justified aside from the face that the developer needs to feed himself and his family and can't just pump out updates that take a lot of time to develop if he doesn't have a source of income or incentive to do so. For paid game dev software it is rather cheap, as stuff like rpg maker is way more expensive even many years later and isn't as feature complete.

This software is made using Godot, not a rebrand or anything of the sort. It is it's own thing and offers everything someone would need to create a game or interactive story all in one place. You can read the description or check out the videos listed for all the features included.

Thanks for the info. I have read the store page and can see what is included. I'm not very familiar with Godot yet, so I was hoping to find out what is included in this paid software above and beyond what is included in the open source Godot project that this is either continually based on (ala Debian -> Ubuntu -> Mint) or forked from (a la OSX from BSD).

That's not a criticism of this project. Presumably this dev has done something that they feel warrants some money. I'd like to know what that is so I can decide if it's something I would like or prefer over the not-for-profit version. Would you be able to give me a brief comparison? Thanks!

Hello,

Godot is an "empty" engine, meaning you can do a lot in many ways, but you have to do it yourself.

RPGiaB is a "game" made with Godot, and that "game" is actually a tool to create games. So, it comes with several layers, voxel editors, map making, pathfinding, visual editor, animation engine, sound effects generator etc.

So, yes, it’s related to Godot, but it’s not just a "Godot+" with a price. It’s a "game-tool", made with Godot engine.

Try the demo, it's allegedly full-featured, just you can only save 2 maps.

The real downside to using this engine is you cannot use many Godot features.

I took a brief look, my biggest gripe would be lack of any pre-programmed combat systems, and lack of any asset export for non-engine use.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
