Save Data disappeared

I recently started the game, to find out I had to start over from the beginning, which is kind of frustrating. Anyone know what might've happened?

If there's no connection to Steam Cloud it won't load/save. The Steamworks documentation says this never, ever happens, but apparently it does. Thanks, Steam!

If you close Steam and then delete (or move aside) the "497780" directory from Steam/userdata/<numbers>/ then open Steam, your save file should come back.

Don't worry about it. It's my responsibility.

I think most games save to disk and then mirror it to Steam Cloud. The documentation for Steamworks specifically says not to do that, so I didn't. I might rewrite the save system so it does that, but I don't want to risk mucking up everyone's save files.
