Nobody will race me

Started a new career, bought a car, went looking for the flag like I saw in the tutorials on youtube, can't find one. When I honk at cars to race, they tell me to go away. Not sure what I'm supposed to do other than crash and run from cops.

Honk aty cars that care highlighted on the mini map. worked for me

You have to honk at the green guys on the minimap. You have to find a green racer that will say yes.

I honked at a few greens, they said go away. I'll keep trying. Thanks.

That happens i think it's because of the prestige, that you can only get by racing.
If nothing works and they don't want to race with you, better do a new career.

Keep honking, one of them will take pity on you eventually.

and go to the street after midnight to run drag races, thats when you will see a green flag.

As cking0650 said, go out to the street at midnight. Use the timer to the top right while in the garage to fast foward time. The mini map will show a green and chequered flag. Drive to the green flag and you'll see a group of cars lined up. When you drive to the group of cars a menu will pop up on the left of the screen. Press "Participate" and a list of cars and drivers will pop up. It's best to start from the bottom of the list and work your way up to gain the most cash. Once you press on a name a drag race will start. If you win, you'll gain prestige and money. The more prestige you have the more people will be willing to race you during the daytime. Keep in mind that at the finish line your car will automatically have it's brakes applied. Try to steer your car to the edge of the road as the A.I. will more than likely ram you as they pass the finish line. It's good to make backups of your save games as you can ruin your game with one bad race. I'm about to make a guide on this as we speak.
