Buying the correct parts?

I just started and am trying to return my car to working order. So I bought suspension, That fit on fine; but when I go to buy springs they all say they're interchangable but not instantly available for install like the suspension did. And when I buy them I can't put them on the car. I found that it's like this with a lot of things. Am I doing something wrong or missing something? I really like this game, but this is hurting my want and ability to play it.

Go to extras in the main menu, turn on kits, and buy kits for stuff. It makes it a lot easier to make sure you're getting the right stuff. As for putting stuff on, building things part by part is kind of finicky, the order you put parts on matters.

Shocks have to be installed before springs, then brakes, then rims, then the right size tires. If you try to install the parts out of order it won't let you. Kits are great until you need or want a specific build but I prefer to use my own choice of parts. Just remember to be patient and get the order right and also the game gives you clues with the little red icons in the catalog of what fits together. Install the first part then go back to the catalog and icons will appear on compatible parts.
