Report a translation problem
There are 2 fixes that might help you with this
1. In steam controller settings enable the playstation support (or something like that) and try to use the controller wired.
2. If it still doesnt work try to use a software that emulates Playstation controllers as Xbox controllers (i tested it today with a PS3 controller but it has a PS4 controller support too). The software is named ScpToolkit [github.com]. Sometimes with the drivers you need to force install them (there is an oution for it in the software). After installing it you will need to open "ScpToolkit Monitor (legacy)" and everything should work fine.
Also make sure that the controlls in the game settings are messed up.
