So this game is a technical mess...

Its been years since I have played it, but oh boy do I remember why Ive stopped playing it in the first place. The intro movie wont show, it loads after almost every little thing you do, it keeps crashing, it takes forever to turn it from windowed mode to fullscreen, borderless wont allow you to tab out, frame rate is a joke... seriously what happened? Its a game made by a company that made other solid games but this one? I JUST played neptunia u and that runs great, this one however feels like riding a dead mule! Does anyone have a solution to make it run smoother? I know uninstalling it is a solution, but sadly it wont make it more playable... yet again...

For such an old game? Heh certainly not. Every other game works, RE2 for example plays like a dream, this potato of a game tries its hardest to stay alive while playing.

I dont have another pc I could try either, but given how many people seem to have problems with the black screen issue and so on I dont think it would matter anyways.

It used to work back with win 7 if I remember correctly, but that was yeeeeaaars ago. Now with win 10 it wont do it anymore. Tried changing the compatibility, different window modes but nothing. Everything is up to date, any other game runs smoothly as previously stated

As I recall a few people who had similar problems to you got everything to work by running in a window (native resolution) and didn't press anything until the logos are finished, then skip the intro movie if so inclined.

I mean the game runs... the fact that I cant see the intro movie and credits suck however...

"This may be late but if anyone's still having issues with this then do the following:
set the game into windows 8 compatibility mode, then go to registry path:
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlays'

and delete the key relating to megatagmension. As long as the game stays in win 8 compatibilty the movies will show just fine."

Yeah I saw that too, but isnt that only for win8 user? I think I read something about that not working for win10 user

I wish they'd have GOG "fix" the game and sell it there as well. I'd buy it again, every year I try to play this game through at least once after October 1st and before Halloween.

Considering the game can be beat in less than 5 hours and isn't that big as far as an install it's not difficult to do.

I forgot to play it last year (October 2021)
