wondering if there's anything else to look out for. more content? real ending?

I'm using a gamepad (DS4). Everything works fine until I get to the difficulty selection screen. At that point, none of the buttons do anything anymore. None of the keyboard keys work either. The "(A) Select" label at the bottom-left of the screen is grayed-out. The only thing that works is to Alt-F4 to quit the game. This is particularly strange because the game seems to detect the gamepad with no problems. I can remap all of the buttons in the options menu, and all of the buttons and triggers work fine ...
