Your opinion or comment?
Of course, in Forest Village, with the farm animals that do not produce skin ...:steamfacepalm:

Seriously, of course there are many surprising things and misunderstandings about the period, especially with movies, shows and games that have bad representation.

It's always a little tricky to say if something is better, because there are always many circumstances, even if we can identify a global trend.

But in terms of appearance, the leather is better. ;)

Opinions do differ of course but I do not go by one person's opinion. I subscribe to quite a few channels that focus on HEMa and since this game Midieval times. Appearance is unimportant when it comes to a matter life or death. Much of the armour displayed in museums is ceramonial armour.

If I lived in midieval times and needed cheap armour I would go for the gambeson for the reasons stated in the video. It is just as protective as leather and is flexible which is is important to someone my size (small). Weapons would be a sword probably piercing one and bow. Horseback would be good if I could afford a horse.

I am an armchair student of HEMA, too old to actually participate but it is quite interesting to me.

Thank you for watching the video few people come to the off topic forum.

And if i want to die with class?
Seriously, I'd be more likely to hide under a big boulder or behind my guards, if my condition allows. XD

Said especially thanks to Google translate which makes my life a lot easier on this forum, even if it is necessary to watch it.
If people write in correct english, mistakes can create a funny thing, but my reading comprehension is better than the oral one. For writing, my vocabulary is too limited without dictionary and it gets long.

Considering that both my typing and spelling are lousy I am surpriesed you can understand me. Unfortunately Steam does not have spell check unless I go through the browser. Sometimes when I do want to be very clear I do use Google.

If I lived in midieval times and had any station in life I would be hiding behind my knight in shining armour. If a peasant or serf I would be in real trouble. If of the mercantile class I hope I would have some good town guards.

I got interested in midieval martial arte due to playing RPGs and having some discussions on forums. I started checking things out to see how accurate the game was. Very few are. Game of Thrones which I have never layed has a good critical rating.

You are not so bad and I have seen much worse. After, I do not say it's perfect, but my brain is there when needed.
Google translate is not so bad now, although sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the meaning in some cases. But not to use to translate an official document or a game. Even though, I've already seen worse translations in games ...

"my knight in shining armour." You idealize?
If the armor is impeccable, it is because it never fights ... Blood, sweat, mud and hair... that's my bodyguard, who will defeat your pretentious knight. :D

Personally, if I have the means, I would add a coat of mail on my gambison. Well, I would need bigger muscles ...

 All the fair damsels of the midieval times had a knight in shining armour at least in stories. Those were tall tales though since good protective mail wasn't very shiney to start with. Actually I understand from at least one of my sources that mail wasn't the heavy. One "expert" showed how quickly a mail shirt could be donned. He was discussing mercenaries and how they traveled.

Knights, that brings up horses. Several people have mentioned horses. Horses were expensive our lowly peseants could afford them. We could have oxen though. Those pack mules are really donkeys. Mistranslation there.

If I understand correctly, you have deliberately tried to deceive the translator? XD Already that mail is translated in the sense of "letter".

Depending on the size, even I would settle for the upper body, more the gambeson, the helmet, the weapon, maybe a shield ...
In any case, I hope I do not have to carry my luggage in the back and / or your luggage.

A good pike and goodbye the knight.
For horses, it depends, it was more common among the peoples of the plains and steppe.
But as for cars today, I prefer my two legs, it is more easily controllable and reliable.

But my biggest problem with living in the middle ages is not having my allergy meds. I'll have to go live in Greenland. After that, if I grew up at that time, maybe I would not have that pain.

I don't deliberately try to decieve the translator but I tend to type what I am thinking. I am very aware that forums suck as this one have people from many linguistic backgrounds. I will admit that sometimes I deliberately try to confuse other posters by writing run-on sentences. Translators can be easily decived.

You are correct the horse wa primarily used by the inhabitants of steppes. I am uncertain as to what armour they wore but I believe it was padded or leather armour. Bows and swordds were the main weapons.

I saw a video by a couple who both arepractioners of HEMa. The woman used a pike or other long weapon.

HEma is (in case you do not know) Historical European Martial Arts. There is a formal organization to which some of my sources belong.
