The fact that the game comes with a flatting tool and people still want flat map means perhaps that the game tool to fatten OR the building ground requirments are too demanding on the player. Yeah, I agree flat maps are the best; but only because it's such a pain to flatten the map yourself. Right?

If they could fix the building on slight slops, would you still need to FIND a flat map?

Best seed is 1091820656. Big map and flat terrain....many space to build. I always play on this map :)

This is the problem I am finding ... the terraforming tool is very slow since the villagers have to dig it out themselves and it doesn't always give the results you expected so it ends up being very fiddly ... meaning you have to go back and re-do it again. Also, if you're an aesthetics freak like me, those 'cut out' looking edges will drive you nuts. There's no way to smooth the edges out naturally (a smoothing tool like Sims 3 would be nice LOL).

So with all those issues, you can see why people look for flat maps with a lot of green area straight off the start to save time and messing with terraforming. I don't like the terraforming tools much at all except to flatten little areas I want to put roads.

i have found that making ur flat spot 1 space bigger on 2 sides 1 to make sure they can walk onto ur flat spot n the other to make sure they can get to the door of what ever u got there but still even then its a pain n dont always work for me as in some times they can build it it then not be able to get to it

I only played for a while now, but I don´t understand why you have to build on a flat land. The game itself looks great, why do you want to terraform it to look bad.

Play longer and you will understand. Buildings cannot go on hillsides, must all fit within a flat space.

Hi Folks, my Favorite Seed is 110, is normal Map and very Flat. have fun.

No idea. Maybe they have a budget problem? They can only use an engine that is affordable? Programming it to allow buildings on hilltop is hard? Allowing buildings on hilltop creates more bugs? The dev prefers this type of terraforming? The dev and the designer of the game wanted you to play a difficult game? They hate hills? And a thousand more possibility....
