Chicken Coop Issue
Well once I build the coop, the chicken tends to die asap (either "dehydration" or "animal attack")...how do you replenish the livestock? Only way I could do it is destroy and rebuild coop. Also they keep dying of dehydration when I have a well close by? Can you control the village directly to pitch water from well?

Are you assigning a herdsman? Need one to care for the chicken.

Yes of course. But then after chickens are dead...what then?

At the moment one has to destroy the coop and rebuild it.

I have a similar issue, my coop can contain max 36 chickens. When they are about 30, the herdsman is not fast enough to bring enough oats. Unfortunately it's not possible to assign a second herdsman.

You need a hunters lodge around the coup to protect your chickens, and more than 1 because they fight the animals and haul the meat and hide. So if one is fighting/hauling, and no other hunters are available...then another animal can come in and kill chickens.

I have been having similar issues. Animals eating my chickens is not the problem, it's that my shepherd just can't keep up with feeding them. Barn and Well are actually touching the coop, and the home for shepherd is next to barn. As far as I can tell, there is currently no way to take care of the chickens in first person.

I haven't tried other animals yet, are they similar as well does anyone know? If so then I won't even bother until they get fixed.

Perhaps the best way is to make smaller coops, max 25 chickens.

Smaller coups work well, I have just done 9x9, but you could go a bit larger maybe 12x12...not 100% sure.

Are smaller coops possible, because I tried to make one smaller and it won't let me.

My last attempt at a coop was the smallest I could possibly make it, still all starved :(

my sheperd died into the coop great job!he could not find find an issue and after all the chickens died too

ATM I don't think chickens recharge if they all die you have to destroy the coop and rebuild it. I've tried several times already, once I waited two years. It still didn't.

Hi there how do you assign a hunter to your coop? I know how to go into first person mode but don't see an 'assign' button. Any advise is appreciated.
Nakia Feb 23, 2018 @ 3:26pm
You build ahunter's hut near the chicken coop and assign a worker to the hut. If you do not wish to take up that much space with a hut then install MEGADORI's Hunting Camp mod which takes up little space and uses no resources. Two hunters may be assigned.

Or use dominsuskevin's mod Armed and Dangerous and stop worrying about your chickens and other animals.

This is what i have done and it seems to be working perfectly. Firstly save the game before you start in case you need to go back. Build a Watch Tower then upgrade it so it attacks wild animals with bow and arrow. Then i built a wooden fence with Gate 9x9 in front of the tower. Then build my coop inside. This holds 18 chickens, i am close to a barn and well. I can also build another coop the same way close to it. Not had a animal attack my chickens up to now. Hope this helps some of you.

IF chickens are not Fed by Herdsman: Assuming you have close Water and
Barn with Oats also close; where does Herdsman live?

Many just play with more of the 14x14 size coop (easier on the Header ;)

If animals attacks: Have a nearby Hunter Tent with 2 Hunters
or use a MOD that Nakia suggested (Both MODs are great)

If Livestock is Dying: Check for a disease
