Teenagers. The hidden resource.
For the longest time I let my teenagers lie around the house playing video games. Enough.

Once I get the village up and running after the initial builds, I grab one of the teens to chop down big trees in the area. Then I'll grab the other teen and start picking veggies and herbs around the village. Stones, ore and hay all get harvest too. Pick and drop. Laborers will carry the harvest to the barn.

Animals around the village and the hunter isn't getting to them in time. Teen power!

I lay dirt roads, then grab ahold of a teen and start building the roads.

Before marking an area for terraforming, the teens are directed to clear the area, trees, ores, stones, hay, veggies, and herbs all. Pick and drop. Once the area is clear, I'll mark the area to be terraformed then set a teen to it.

I still need to see if a teen can build a building after all the materials are on site, but I've got a good feeling about it.

I love it! Brilliant. One of the things I love about the game is the people it attracks, intelligent, thinking people. Hey, what about a video of your teens working? I think it would be good advertisement for the game.

Oh lol, that was fun. cut down a tree, broke up a couple of much needed stone, killed a bear and a wolf, Herbs, veggies, and fruit. What can I say, you have made the game even better for me. At some point the teenager, I tried two, began to resist. I think they were hungry maybe. :steamhappy:

I tried this a bit in the beginning and it's possible to make teens do things in first person so it's a good piece of advice unless you have too many people and then it's a lot of micromanaging.

Once you get a school up in running though, the lazy little bums stand around inside the school so you have to let 'em go. ;)

I have a question what type of housing do you normally build at the beginning or do you build any houses?

I try to get small housing up straight away losing the shacks as quickly as possible remembering not to demolish when a child is inside.

I have noticed when you go to upgrade the shacks your people just die is this a bug?

i go ahead and demolish even with kids inside....makes room for more babies, plus, its that first critical test for the new pyre.

You need to make sure you have room in other huts/houses for the people to move to while one is being upgraded or they will be 'homeless' and starve while construction is being done.

If you click on the hut being upgraded you will see they are moving stuff out and it has no residents. Think of it as a "total remodel" where no one can live in the house until renovations are completed. ;)

I never ever upgrade a house until I'm sure I have enough available spaces in other houses for them to move to ... same with demolishing a house. And yes, if you upgrade a house with babies/children in it, they will die as they cannot relocate. :( I'd really prefer seeing this function changed to where babies actually have Mothers and the Mother carries the baby to new house.

......but as all character models are adults that could be quite funny to see...on a more serious note I'm looking forward to all character models being to scale. 😁

Haha! I had not even considered the imaginary hilarity this would bring with the current character models all being adults. It would indeed be quite funny to see a woman villager carrying a full grown adult male to another house. :P

Yes indeed, a teen can build a building. But you do have to stay with the kid or he'll run back to the video games. Some things never change!

Just for grins, I took a teen to the unused fishermen's lodge and set her to fish. She started, but gave up shortly after I grabbed another teen to join her. First person might have worked though.
And always use the boost (key 1, the rallying command) in first person view. Every time it's possible.

Yes..apparently there are going to be a lot more commands...interesting?

Is there a way to speed up the villager when in first person? I may have the game speed set to X5 but the villager moves slowly.
