in YOUR opinion, what are the biggest issues with this game?

I've never played but I am somewhat sceptical, I just bought the game for £0.90 (I know lol) so I'm not too worried but I am interested!

Your reading comprehension shows you might be having issues.... this game needs proper management and it's done and it's buggy since 2017 so if you want to learn anything go to game reviews

I really enjoy this game but!!! i am incredibly frustrated with the complete lack of effort on the devs/creators to fix the save bug. have played this game for 153 hours as of today.. i keep coming back every few months and try making a new map only to have the same issues once again. every 3-8 years in game after year 10 the game either crashes or the save files bug out and you lose hours of work because it will no longer save. I have tried everything suggested in the forms but this issue is never ending. sucks the enjoyment out of the game when i have to stress about saving every 15 mins loading the game back up only to find it was pointless and i have to start all over or from 8 years prior. I started playing this game 2-3 years ago...but because of this bug....i asked for a refund and was refused because at that point i had played the game longer then 2 hours, i think it was 5 hours into the game is when the bug first showed up and around 20 hours of trying to make it work i asked for a refund. this game is meant to be played far longer then 2 hours. and if there is a bug that affects the game play so much so that youll be unable to progress because it wont F*****G save.. i dont recommend this game unless you enjoy eternal frustration and disappointment

Game is absolute garbage. Just a MUCH worse version of Banished. There is no sense to anything that happens.

Game says make sure to stockpile firewood.
You stockpile firewood.
Half your people die of hypothermia during the winter anyway.

Game says stockpile food.
You stockpile 3 or 4 types of food for winter.
Half your people die of starvation anyway.

Graphics are mediocre. Music plays on and endless annoying loop. Sound effects consist of repeated "tinking" noises for villagers hitting rocks and a weird alarm every time someone dies. That is about it.

Overall totally underwhelming.

Complete waste of time and money

I happen to really enjoy this genre of video games - the city builder. Doesn't matter whether it's modern like Sim City or Cities Skylines or medieval like Banished, Ostriv, or ... this one. Even fictitious settings like Cliff Empire, a highly underrated game, is fine with me.

For some odd reason this game feels more like "you were there" than some other medieval city builders and not just because of the 1st Person mode. Perhaps because the models are larger and you can adjust the camera so that it's very close to a 1st Person perspective. I also enjoy the day/night cycle - and the lighting that comes with it, something games like Banished, Ostriv, and most others don't have (Go Medieval actually does which is also nice). I guess they figured a medieval village would just be dark - but I think that's totally untrue. (Medieval Dynasty is like the darkest video game I've ever seen - at least the earlier versions - where there is almost no light at all at night. Not even torches. How did those people live, heh.

But the positives come with its negatives. The lack of enemies makes the game more of a sandbox builder than anything else, so if you like perpetual peace this game is for you. But then again, most medieval builders lack enemies (except games like Kingdoms and Castles, Stonehearth, and Go Medieval). One of the worst things about the game is that it takes an unusually long time to harvest resources. From what I understand, it takes a certain amount of time per unit of resource available in the node. It seems longer than 1 second per unit but not long enough for it to be 1 minute per resource. However, chopping down a large tree, for instance, takes a loooooooooooong long time. It takes so long that I avoid chopping down big trees and if I have to (to build, for instance) I fire up a movie in my other monitor and watch that for awhile. It really does take that long in the vanilla game. I'd recommend using one of the several mods that modifies how long harvesting takes.

The scenery is really nice - granted the graphics are a bit dated, but as any true gamer knows, graphics aren't everything. The gameplay is far more important, and this game has that in spades. Plus there is a very large, extensive collection of mods that add buildings, resources, production chains, furniture, tweaks to different aspects of the vanilla game, and so many other things. The nights could be a little darker though and I haven't found any mods that modify the darkness unfortunately.

But if I like it, why did I vote it down? Simple. Everyone knows that today's industry standard with video games is mods. Yes, mods, mods, mods. In other words, the devs put out a very vanilla game with essentially just the basics, a bare-bones game that lacks the attention to detail and the love that a modder has for his or her projects. Thus the game is released in bare-bones fashion and the modders come along and give the game its polish, detail, and love. The kind of mods that are so good that the idea of NOT playing with them will ensure you simply won't play the game at all. It's like being demoted from a royal feast to a McDonald's Happy Meal.

Unfortunately there are dozens upon dozens of wonderful mods, including many many new buildings, new resources, new production chains, new decorations, new AI behaviors for animals and settlers - and good luck using any of them. Oh, I'm sure you might get away with a couple of mods in your game, but it seems having mods corrupts your save games. So everything will seem like it's working fine the first time you play. But when save and come back later to play, ALL of your games will crash to desktop as it tries to load. That includes all of your autosaves. It won't matter how far you go back, none of them will work. They will all crash.

So you might get one decent playthrough with the vanilla game. But that'll be it, really. Because when you take a look at the Workshop and see all the mods just sitting there, taunting you while you know you can't use them. Well ... yeah, best to not even buy the game. Because it really sucks. Is it the game's fault the mods don't work? No, not really. But in today's industry, the game and the mods go hand-in-hand. If the mods crash the game, well, maybe you can go through 300 mods and figure out which mods are corrupting your save game - which means installing one mod, playing for several hours, then saving the game to see if it'll crash. No? Add another mod. Play for several hours ... see how time consuming it would be? It's not worth it.

So if you're one of those purists who never use mods, this game is for you! But if you're the type who really enjoys the content other players create, just keep walking. The game is inexpensive enough so that if you want to piss around with endless mod combinations to see which ones work and which ones don't, again be my guest. But for me, it sucks the fun out of the game when you have to put in that much work to enjoy it.

So it's a thumbs down for me, I'm afraid. And it's unfortunate since I did enjoy playing. But if mods are going to corrupt ALL of your saves so they all crash on startup, there's just no point.

I said refrain.

I also said shikaku was not contributing to my specific discussion - subjective to my opinion and judgement as the author. Thus your defence is humiliating, but humility is beneficial for immature minds.

I have and could read the reviews myself - I didn't require any help to understand this. I requested a discussion, alas did not receive such and so the post will be removed for failing to reach a captive audience, thanks for the replies guys :MushroomRotA:

Players complain about various things since 2017 and IT"S ALL RELEVANT but I guess you're not interested in receiving relevant answers. More like "I bought game at very low price andI'm interested"... but not so much interested as seeing what is wrong in Reviews tab...
