mill and bakery balance, and resource distribution issue
i'm korean, and have bad english. sorry!

my town have high quality tool, cloth, home near work place, educated pop, well near farm,

happiness from bath and statue ,excessive fuel, and all level 3 research except tool production

and approximately 300 able working pop

first it is about mill.

mill is very inefficient to make flour.

i should have 4 mill to make grain from ONE 15x15 size farm into flour

it doesn't make sense at all! even if it is middle age!

if windmill was so inefficient in real history,

the people of middle age cannot eat the bread . it is just for the rich or noble.

windmill was innovation of middle age, it brought reduction of labor, and increase of food

production.

here in game, windmill is just for expedition, too expensive to build and so inefficient.

and takes a lots of space.

there should be upgrade or efficiency increase.

second, bakery.

bakery is also tooooooooo inefficient.

i love hardcore game. really. but i hate things doesn't make sense!

i have 12 bakery which need 24 workforce,

and i NEVER experienced excessive bread or pie!

first, i try to build more bakery. then i realize that bakery's production is simply a joke!

12 bakery barely finish one year yield from one 15x15 size wheat farm!

all bakery have well right next door, educated, 3 production level, barn near workplace which

is full of resource, home near workplace. i have done everything! ,

but simply bakery is broken. two baker make only 300 bread for year?

WHAT? 300 BREAD FOR ONE YEAR?

even if you only have traditional oven with 40 hours work per a weak,

you CAN MAKE THOUSANDS OF BREAD FOR A YEAR!( if you have resource, of course)

it need buff clearly.

third, resource distribution.

resource distribution make player reeaaally tired.

only way to distribute resource is a caravan.

or i should make town self-sufficient so, i don't need to distribute resource.

but, some place is good for fishing, another place is good for forestry

so, for a maximum profits of food or resource, we should concentrate on several items,

but fishfarm area need fuel, and forestry area need fish.

this is when commerce(or distribution?) need.

but caravan make source barn dry, and make target barn flourish,

so, balance of distribution never be solved out,

no, it can be solved! you just keep watching caravan post!

well, you have hundred of people to manage, you should think expansion, terraforming,

but you should keep watching caravan.

it makes player tired.

it is really simple to make caravan less tired.

it is to make maximum limit of resource of target barn.

i seem to know what is dev's intention of Introduction of caravan.

but, it is lack of convenience.

thank you for reading, 읽어줘서 고마워요.

All good points. Agreed.

I agree with all points except for the bakery. Have you ever developed some technologies from the Keep? It can lower the production time. For example, you need 0,9 minute to product 1 fruit pie with the "food production II" developed.

Otherwise, there are several optimizations to make. For example, i'm tired to see villagers who do not finish their work because they suddenly look for supplies to their homes.

Finally, change to way villagers move will bring a big improvement. Why they are reluctant to use pavements?

I wish you a nice day.

of course, my food production is level lll , i have pavement all around bakery, i did almost everything for bakery, but its production is joke.

i think that reason of poor production of bakery is stock. they make bread or pie fast, but bakery stock limit is too small , they keep going out to get ingredient. so, whatever your production skill is, the bakery production is stiil a joke.

cooking time doesn't matter . because time to get a ingredient take large portion in making bread or pie.

This is why it is very important to have a well and a barn with all the ingredients plus space for pies VERY close (10 sq or less) to the bakery at least if you want to use them as a significant part of your villagers' diet.

One reason I like the Advanced Mill and Bakery mod is that it gives you two extra people to carry resources back and forth. Thus you can keep two or three workers busy baking or milling.

Agree, this is the reason I stopped playing for the moment. I advanced until I hit the mill / bread problem. It's just unrealistical. I don't want to litter my village with tens of bakeries just to make a tiny amount of baked products, it's just not fun.

Just want to say: +1.

I'd argue that - with the exception of fields - the production of everything is rather low, but yes, mill + bakerys stand out.

yea. barn is three block away, and well is one block away. 1 blcok mean 1x1. isn't it close enough? and bakery olny use one well that dry out. there is well full of water right next.
