Blast Furnace
So what's the trick to keeping the blast furnace from eating my little slackers?

The only fix I found for this was to build them with the water part on the shore. I don't know if this is a bug or not but that works.

Hadn't thought of that. I finaly built a wal all the way around it and left an entrance near the fron left hand side. I'm still thinking though it has something to d with how they get to the bottom work postion when they're on top without having to walk down the stairs again. Gonna keep an eye on it. Maybe the pathing mechanism was't seeing things right. Hopefully the wall forces it to see differently.

I tried that too and still ended up with people getting caught...

I hope this can help, it will line up easy with the shore line; may need to terraform to be perfect.
It did seem easy enough

Thanks you two. Gonna poke around and see if I can learn anything about collision. Maybe add an invisible or two to redirect pathing.

The Workers do seem busy, as well as climb up and down the stairs.

Have you noticed that sometimes they seem to pop back downstairs to a work position after droping off resources? I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. I'm working on another 'fix' right now so I don't have time to see what's going on when they get stuck. It happened twice when I wasn't looking.

Hey. I did this and itseems to be working. I had to place the stone walls then place the blast furnace inside. For some reason it doesn't let you place next to it if you place the furnace first. Like there's some kind of extra space there.

Now I understand where you were going with this; very nice
If you release this Model, can you increase the workers to 4 or 6.

This is vanilla. I haven't tried to do anything with it yet. Thinking about I am using cstomeburners low and medium stone walls. I didn't try to play the vanilla walls though I did use the vanilla corner pillars. DOn't know why you can's get anything closer to the edge of the layout once you plop it down but it will fit if you place your borders first. I ran it for about three hours total at no less than 2x with some occasional 5x and no one's died yet.

Wish we had a way to make natural looking streams.

P.S. - There are only two work points for the NPCs so you will have one standing around doing nothing at times if you put 3 on it. Watch building being built then watch them while they're working. There are only so many workpoints for building and so many for working mode.

I also used cstomeburners :) Walls in my Image posted above (Water View left of B Furness)
I have increased workers to 6 with ease; thru 'JFC' Utility here in Workshop

No one ever died (at least that I have noticed) in my Blast Furness in any game I played. Although I and many only go speed Normal or x2. Those that go x5 or x10 usually have issues; although you would know this.

Stream, Ponds, Moats; water sheds: Can be made with Terraform menu/'Raise>lower Terrain' and 'Create Hill' -negative grade for Corners. With realistic drainage slices leading to, as well as on the Stream banks. (Seen in Image background 2,3&1)
Larger River Bed can be made from 'Flatten Hight' starting from a below sea-level grade
Random Bolders will be naturaly formed from the games engine
All can be tricky; save first. With only a little practice this Terraforming will become easy. When done in small sections does not require much labor

Looks real good. I've done a few tricks with the terra. tool but I've haven't tried streams since the r / l to height tool came out. I get kind of picky when making waterways. Guess I need to revisit it. Thanks for screen shoots. Maybe there is hope after all. If I could just stop making mods for a bit. :>)

Thank you :) dominuskevin

It dosnt take much labor (4 free laborers).
Start out with [Lower' Terrain] a small section behind a group of Reeds and go from there
towards the lowlands or carved from hiils/ Mtns as I did.
Make corners and drainage slices on the banks with [Create hill] in the negative

FYI: Flatten Hight' starting from a below sea-level grade can make some wild bendy snakes ; but will require a lot of labor
Use Slope and Ramp and other options to clean up any jags
