Hunters will attack Raiders. Have Hunter camps on the near outer Perimeter's of your Village;
this is good also for Hides and Meat. When Ships is sited, there will be a few minutes before they actually land, when they land, plot out there avenue of attack and
'in that corridor load up all camps to the max with Hunters'
I like to keep Forester Lodges also on the most outer Perimeter's (not only for Wood) also so the Viking Raiders first attack them, and as they do; your Hunters will have time to counter attack. 3 Hunters should be able to finish them off and you also can go into 1st Person to use the Bow to attack the Vikings Raiders as well ;) Actually can be great fun to watch and participate in that battle. Plan and develop for the worst and your Village will survive :)
Usually post haste (always eventually)
Hunter Camp near perimeter {foreground}, Forrester Lodge outer Perimeter {background} ;
Viking Raiders do not have a chance.
Notice the Mini Map and you will see the Outer Parameter Buildings
as green dots surrounding my Villages

I think what is overlooked by many Players: Is Research at the Keep {examples in above images}
(Mostly gives Player the >Earned bonus's to advancement in Agriculture, Production, Mining, Animal Breeding and much more ;)
-Many MODs that give Speed, Agriculture, Production, Mining, etc, Bonus Settings can lessen, greatly reduce, break and could make Vanilla research at keep totally irrelevant
Also to say: Most 'Global Setting MODs' are absolutely fine if the Player wants a more simplistic game play from that of LIF-FV games logical intent.
Also Donkey Transport to and from Barns, storage for resupply and supplies to future need's. Should always be considered by Players. (> There two "Caravan" MODs< that adds new content and Logistical Functionality for your routes between your Warehouses, Market and Barns that are really a must have if you want to improve this games logistics
For the Keep: You will need a Stone and Ore Mine, and about 4 Forster Lodges for Wood.
And for that you will need an up and running Baking industry of at least ( Vegetable, Meat and Fish Baked goods) to help support the Miners, Foresters and other Villagers.
Build slow and steady.
Build and send ship when you have the >spare Food< and supplies and when you are ready
You don't have to go in 1st Person if you don't want; the Hunters should do the job
and enjoy thier battle.
