How to get wool and breed animals?
Hi Guys, I am new to the game and I am having trouble with my villagers dying in Winter year 2. It is already so hard to get the Blacksmith Shop setup to make tools so more people can cut trees etc. I finally managed to figure out that I need flax (constructed farms for it) and hides (build a hunting camp) to make warm clothing and then realized that I need wool. But how do I get wool? Which building do I construct to get sheeps, cows etc?

Hello
Wool is from sheep but for having sheep you need to build port and send ship on expedition to discover first new animals - sheep (cows and pigs also). Only chickens are available by default in vanilla game.
After sheep are discovered you just need to build pasture with them and stock pasture with water and hay and few herdsmen depending on pasture's size.
You can also use this mod with crops and "no discovery needed" to unlock sheep at the beginning - then you won't be needing expedition to discover animals

Wow thanks for the details man. That's a lot of work. Will work on building that dock first.
For ship you'll need among others 40 cast iron and 100 flax :)

Sorry, I didn't quite understand. So is there a building called Pastures which I can generate the sheeps from? I've seen coop before and I actually built one but didn't understand how to use it. Can you please help me out. I also downloaded all the mods and checked it in the mods screen but don't see anything in game. Am I missing something? How do I actually activate the mods?
If you are completely new to this game then avoid using a lot of mods.

Each mod before activating needs to be checked in list in game. After that you need to quit game and launch it again so game can see and read what you choose.

Vanilla game (unmodded) has few pastures to choose from. Chickens has coop. Hen is available by default. The rest needs discovering it first.
Build coop, assign workers to it and stock with needed resources - chickens need oat and water. Once you assign workers and stock it chickens will breed. You start with one animal and depending on pasture / coop size you will have after some time more animals.
Start with mods that don't need special load order like those in here:

For mods with specific load order you will need to read mods desc and see what they do and how they need to be listed in load order.
Checked (enabled) mods look like those in screenshot bellow (with green sign)

Ok it's kinda tough at the moment but will try and get the needed cast iron and flax. Is there a way to collect wool from wild animals through the hunting camp?
I love how this game has a domino effect. One thing depends on another and one thing leads to another. Or like John Wick says "Action has consequences." :P

and you can just activate medieval crops - first mod in your mods list. :steamhappy:
First four are domesticated animals, the rest - wild ones.

Cool, that's what I was trying to figure out...the load order. I thought I messed that up. I will remove all the mods and try the Newbies collection and the Island Delicacies first.

Just one more thing. If I start a game, make some progress and then install the mods and restart and load the save game, will I be able to continue with the mods installed or will I have to start a new game session again?
