Palisade Gates with Doors
Palisade Gates with Doors
Have built around my settlement a palisade (to protect from the wild animals)
would not be badly a gate to install, so the hunters and collectors in and out
can go. And the gate closes then the wild animals can not come in. but does not work neither the wood nor the steintor doors.wherein lies or what I am wrong?

There are gates (portcullis) built into the the archway blocks of the castle stone walls (Located in the castle tab, not the fence tab). You may need to 'upgrade' the section before the porticullis appear (can't quite remember). I haven't seen them in action as far as keeping animals ou though.

Can someone else confirm this?

Small fence and palisades do no't have any working gates - no gates.

Big stone castle blocks have a porticullis. A porticullis is a big metal gate.

Build big castle walls around the village.
'Upgrade' the big stone castle archway - there will be a porticullis. The porticullis will keep wild animals out.

Thanks for highlighting, I've extended the castle gate to the third stage, you can see the grill, but the wild animals are still walking through the grill, so the gates are useless. Joining the individual wall elements together is also a science in itself, they usually don't fit together and there are gaps in between and at the corners you have to build a tower again and again because the walls don't fit at all. you guys have the same experiences, or I'm doing something wrong. there the developers will have to improve some things, where there is still something to improve

Sorry about the grill. Someone else said that the gates worked for wild animals. Also that villagers used the towers to attack wild animals. I haven't witnessed it myself, I took their word for it... Has anyone else witnessed this happen? :steamsad:

Perhaps it will work after the next patch? The developers have said the next patch will have Viking raids... My guess is that the grills will come down when they attack.

To minimise gaps in the wall, hold 'Shift' when placing them. You're not doing anything wrong, it's a point of frustration from many (especially the miniscule gap and the terraforming involved).

Watchtowers or stone towers will start shooting animals once they have been upgraded to level 2. Although their range is small, placing one near a gate would prevent animals from entering.
