DO i really need a variety of food?.Only eating potatoes and everything is fine by year 15
I sustain all my calories needs with potatoes only, as other kinds of food seems worthless.
Eggs and meat go to pies and then to the ships. When there are no ships around i close the bakeries. With a population of 120 and only 30 chicken , i can assure that the only food available are potatoes. Everyone seems happy and healthy. The only deaths i have are from old age and 1 of hypothermia every winter which is no big deal.

According to the guidelines you do need a variety of food to maintain effiency. Along with the calories vitamins are needed and each category offers certain vitamins.

i think someone said that as long as they have a meal that includes stuff other than veggies ONCE A YEAR they won't get sick. So, if you're pulling in meat from hunting and eggs from the chickens and fruit from gathering all summer or year round, they're probably getting enough variety to sustain themselves just fine.

Not hunting anything. The meat I have is from the coop , like 2-3 chickens a year for 120 people. The amount of eggs are not much as there are no more then 30 animals.Only 1 hunter to keep predators away. And no one is producing clothes.Everyone is naked i guess. All farms only plant potatoes as other veggies sucks.Something that intrigues is that after playing 80 hours I never had an outbreak of anything.Sometimes a person suffering from cold or hunger gets sick , but 99% of the time , my physician do nothing.Playing the game on mild climate, with disasters on.

IRL you could live off some potatos just fine... it's the most balance allrounder food.

you say you're not hunting anything.....if so, i would have expected your villagers to get sick with rabies (and/or your animal pens to get infested with rabies) from time to time. That happens to me even if I send people on extended harvesting missions. I don't think most deseases kick in till at least year 10 tho...

Only one hunter ,just to keep the chickens alive.he barely produces anything as the coop is in the middle of the city. The meat i have come from the coop but it is almost nothing.Guess potatoes are really nutricious after all.Never fish anything , only when pies need to be produced.80 hours of gameplay ,dozens of cities , never had an outbreak. One more time , i am playing with disasters on , dont know if mild climate has anything to do with diseases.

I dont think the vitamin system works. The pace of this development is glacial.

They have nothing to do with the development of any game besides Forest Village. They have only licensed the Intellectual Property of 'Life is Feudal' from those developers, they do not actually work for them or act as a part of the MMO guys.

how many devs?
Nakia Apr 22, 2017 @ 6:52pm
I don't think the number of devs has been given out but I understand it is a small group. The game is playable and they hae done a lot of backroom work stabalizing the gamek, redoing coding and making it more mod friendly. The devs have been very responsive to the modding community.

This game is too forgiving, to be sure. Banished! is a bear, LiF: FV is a bunny rabbit by comparison. I guess I've seen some comments on this forum about some chain-reaction starvation occuring, but honestly I have yet to run into trouble with a town (except for one case, but it was my fault, not the game, that led to a downward-spiral of food stocks). The diseases are too rare and too mild. The food system is too one-note. The villager may get colder faster without clothes, but as the OP observed, "naked" villagers don't seem to be a huge problem. Shouldn't that be a huge problem? Clothing should be fairly vital, as should a truly balanced diet. Eating potatoes for 364 days a year and having chicken 1 day a year should not stave-off scurvey or avitaminosis.

while i do agree with you, clothing to be viable , should be changed entirely. Why do you need leather? And only from hunting?

I don´t recall people using only aninal fur in the medieval age.Why not cotton, wool, linen ,....like the way humanity is doing since thousands and thousands years ago?My citizens would not be naked if clothing was not entirely broken. So I guess as things are now , hypotermia should stay the way it is now.

Variety of crops are beautiful on summer , but when you remember(corn, wheat, cabbage )are worthless , you go full potato.

You do know you can make warmer clothes once you have sheep producing wool, right? Also, flax IS linen. So, leather + flax + wool = warm clothes.
Ragna May 14, 2017 @ 12:34pm
Still need leather from hunting.Cant take leather from cattle.Playing on a small map , makes it hard to find animals,so my leather stocks depletes too fast. on a larger map , game almost freezes with >130 people. So basically my farms , raise cattle , butcher them and throw all the leather in the ocean i guess.
