The Hermits. Favorites, Buffs, Nerfs.
I have been playing Kingdom: New Lands and I love it, recommend it to everyone
The 3 hermits are such a good addition to the game, they provide a good amount of depth to building your kingdom
The hermit of Tide, with the powerful ballista
The hermit of Baking, with the incredible amount of troop support
and the hermit of Valor, with the power to make more knights

My personal favorite is the hermit of Tide, being able to kill the Trappers and Giants quickly is essential
My personal least favorite, and one I believe needs a buff, is the hermit of Valor, dont get me wrong, extra knights are essential for taking more troops with you to new islands, but not so good otherwise. I would like to see the knights he provide either: Get a unique power, some sort of attack or defence buff, or cost less

What are your thoughts?

I like all of them. I haven't tried spamming with the Hermit of Valor but a legion of Knights sounds neat. In any case, it may seem the less useful but I don't think it needs changes. I love the ballista but baker allows me to focus more on other stuff.

I'd only change the apparent roaming tendency of them. Lost a Tide when he went for a walk during an attack to the wall (walked to the other side!!), baker tried too in another game but managed to stop her. And I had a new Tide in another island brought from the previous one, near the campfire. A couple of days later, he was nowhere to be found!:stress: Just when I was about to use his ability. XD

The knight hermit kind of sucks because you don't want more knights for defending since they just run away and take their archers with them once the wall is at like 80% health and you never need more than 2 knights to take a portal down.
More knights also means more downgraded archers that won't hunt.
It's only bad because knights are bad. Fix the knight ai to be less horrible at defending and that'll make knight towers more valuable.

The baker is great but you never need more than 1 bakery.
It might as well be a one-time upgrade to your castle.
Maybe its functinality can be changed to spawn peasants off-screen instead of attracting them so building more than 1 bakery is sensible.

The ballista is the only thing you'd want to build multiple of.
It's a straight upgrade to archer towers since it also frees 9 gold worth of archers up and only eats 1 4 gold easily replacable engineer so if you get overrun and need money, the empty towers won't suck all your archers up and prevent them from hunting or defending and solves all the problems that building multiple towers had.

They are all extremely STRONG, even the kermit of valor (knights). Clearly they should be nerfed. The mounts (bear, unicorn ...) should be nerfed too.

There's one thing great with knights you may have underestimated is that "it ensures" a few archers stand on that side to defend it (as you may have noticed units are free to leave a side for another). Before getting into my boat i always create knights on the other side for that very purpose.

I'm 200% for a castle upgrade instead of a NPC creating a bakery. I read a few people had bugs having more than 2 (which you don't realy need).

When you save+quit there's occasionaly weird hermits behaviour, i even lost 2 of them (gone from the map, and yeah they were at safe locations). I should maybe report this bug.

I like the idea of the bakery being an upgrade to the keep, and not a find this npc. You could all so make it so you half to upgrade the walls/towers one more time to get the bakery, so it's more balanced and not an easy way to get people to your keep.

wow, scratch that, saving and quitting only worked once... its not working again

Hrm... honestly I think the hermits, if I understand correctly, should have their AI tweaked that once you grab them or something they stay near the base/camp and go into it when the steward whatnot guy does too so they are save at night. And just in general stay around there unless you move them too far away? or yeah make the bakery an upgrade because honestly at this point the only new thing I find are dogs and I would like a bakery for the 5th island lol

Personally, I think knights that are maxed out on coins should stand and fight(until they lose a couple of coins), but if they are not maxed out they should use the current behavior.

Since Knights recruit Archers, and winter wont allow you to hunt, you might see where they were going with this. However, I think they shouldn't run until the wall is almost destroyed. Also, the Knight upgrade can become really costy, because they'll lose coins all the time when stabbing enemies, unless you're using the armored horse. But I'm so used to the elc's speed by now...

I love the baker hermit, I can max the bread and gain 4-6 villagers a day. Which is rather handy when there are portals in the way on the later islands.

The Ballista is massively OP, especially if you get two of them in close proximity to each other.

[edit] Personally i've no idea what we're meant to do with the dog.

the dog tells you the direction of the attack like when night time starts he starts barking in the side of the greed where they come so he is useful in telling you where is the attack like the spy but if the dog is near the greed the greed can steal him as a valuable thing so you must not let him in danger

I quietly finished the 5th island in 40 days with the stag, the baker and the ballista hermit.
