Knight Eating Gold
When entering a new island (with Knights on the boat) the knight tend to 'eat' your early game gold from hunting leaving you with little or no gold at start. Should I just not bring Knights at the start? AND does eating gold give them any sort of buff?

Giving them gold gives them an HP boost, you can give them 6-7 gold until they max out. It does get annoying though when they take the gold you need.

Well, you should also be going to the new land with a full bag of gold. The starting gold allows your knights to 'tank' on arriving at the new land (because the gold they carry does NOT carry over), thereby allowing you to delay putting any walls up.

Where does it say that?

Nowhere. Then again, the same applies for all the other mechanics. This game won't explain itself, that's just how it works. But regarding the knight buff, it does work, like all the other known mechanics it was discovered by player experimentation. I can vouch for this one working. Try dropping a coin near one of your knights, he will walk towards it, collect the coin and raise his sword in the air, to show he has absorved it. Any other npc would give you the coin back if it had just collected it (except the banker), but the knight won't.

It makes sense as I have recruited knights before and sent them straight to a portal and they die real quick, but if I have recruited knights and left them for a while (unknowingly collecting coins) and then send to a portal they take many hits before dieing

Ah...just noticed that when they get hit they lose a coin, so that makes sense now.

Thank you for the explanation, I thought the greedy little buggers were just stealing my gold.
