How to use the bear

hi i just reached island 5, and i found the bear mount. I have heard that he can attack rabbits and deer, but o can't figre out how to use him :(

Does anyone find the bear useful? I've used him to kill a couple greed on the first night, when I didn't have walls. Sometimes I get a few extra coins early on from wasting wildlife, but the amount feels negligible compared to what my hunters pull in. Not sure if it's ever worth picking him over the elk or a good horse.

Also, would be cool if he regained stamina from killing animals instead of eating grass. That just feels wrong.

I found the incredibly low stamina way too crippling myself. For coins, there are better options.

The staminia is really low, but if he sprints past rabbits, sometimes ir can kill them, sometimes the bear misses. The deer you have to constantly chase them and get them to turn around because you have to hit them more than once, I think two or three times. It takes a while to get use to but once you know how to do it, its easy.

I highly suggest using the bear to earn the 20 deer in 4 days achievement. The bear did end up saving on of my hermits once, he/she was being carried away by a monster and because I had the bear I was able to hunt the monster down and free the hermit before it got back to the portal.

However, I honestly prefer the unicorn, get to make gold and have decent staminia.

Actually bear is not eating grass. If you look closely at animation - it looks like he is digging earth to catch small rodents.

So everything is ok with his food preferences)
