Island 5 no unicorn/same spawns

Every time I restart island 5 it has no shrines, warhorse, wild horse and armory hermit and dog. That's it. All it does is change where they are located on the map. Restarting 10 times I have only got those same three every time. Never a unicorn, never a bear. To be clear unicorn and armor hermit are both unlocked on the map. Out of ten times I would have thought to see the unicorn, or a bear, maybe even one shrine of some kind if it's random gen every restart. What am I missing?

If the last mount you have unlocked was the warhorse, it has more chances of appearing on the next island you play. Now I'm not sure if simply setting sail would alter this tendency (or if you'd be required unlocking another thing), but I'm aaaalmost sure that restarting does not change it.

Anyway, the 5th island is a bit weird for getting unlockables. At least it's guaranteed not to have statues. The best for that is the 4th, because it's large (more spots), and it has no preset restrictions. You could try get good hermit and mount on the 4th, and move with them to the 5th.

I was thinking of starting over from island 1 but I'd rather not do the entire thing over again so maybe as you suggest started at island 4 would be better.
