This is cheating though.
I tend to rely on all the spawns of shrines to make things work
Game on.
i just started a new game on the third island but i dont have gold to hire a worker, archer, or build walls, one thing i can do is sit here and wait to die ....
But, once I forced myself to deal with the challenges of starting from scratch with no people, no coins, was the turning point when I started to figure out how to actually beat the game, the first time I beat the second Island I accidentally caused the merchant's shack to disapear, I pushed through and beat the game to my surprise, which actually prepared me for no merchant the later islands. After I finally got to the third island I began to just restart at the level I was on, and by my first playthrough of the fourth island I made it all the way with the boat to the dock but with no coins in the middle of winter, I had forgotten I needed ten coins to launch! After restarting once the 5th Island was actually kinda trivial, it was very long, but kinda boring.
Starting from scratch my priorities are:
1. Find the stag, you need to attract some deer for early cashflow
2. clear some trees, unlike "kingdom classic" your archers will make more money in a field, even if this means destroying the merchants shack (but don't destroy close hobo camps unless you have the baker)
3. don't upgrade your campfire to a camp until you've cleared some trees and are getting a good archer income.
(somewhere in here upgrade your walls to the first stone upgrade.)
4. once you have a good archer income, get the banker.
5. once you have the banker, put as much money in as you can and withdraw nothing until you have at least 400 coins in the bank.
6. If you have the bank by day 5 and put 20 coins in per day, plus the interest you will have over 400 by day 16
7. after this point put all money into your boat, and more archers, to take care of the rising threat. 8. then get knights, destroy all the portals only on the side with the dock, then launch the boat and flee
