I don't think there is much you can do about it, other than try not to make your kingdom too large. It seems to happen to me when I have a crap-ton of archers.
Yeah, me too, but I find large kingdoms extremely tedious to navigate. On top of all the other reasons not to expand, I took to being more strategic about it. It would still be nice if they addressed this, though I will say that it makes the kingdom feel less stagnant when you have these platoons of archers looking busy. And I honestly don't think it has affected my long-term survival chances so far.
Hmm, the sides should be at least roughly equal, I think, not sure why that is happening. The only thing I can think of is that you might have more knights on one side. Knights will recruit archers regardless of which side they are on. If you want to even things out, try adding more knights to the side that has fewer archers. Archers supporting a knight won't hunt, though.
