the ballistic shield doesnt make any sense
Why cant u hold ur gun infront of ur shield and shoot? why is the window in the shield not bullet proof?

It's a collision thing. You're not supposed to be able to point your gun straight through a shield but in VR how do you implement that restriction without some weird UX. The shield, like most solid things, just prevents the gun from shooting if you're colliding. You get used to holding your gun around the side, and a laser can help you get used to it.

Personally I find the shield more useful on my back so I can duck and turn if I have to reload.

As for the little window - I don't know if a real one would be, but even if the were would they stop a close range 5.56 or 7.62? Sounds like something to google.

I guess stopping a few full metal jacket assault rifle round even at close range is what they are designed for, the thing is that if someone keep shooting at the same spot it will finally wear out.
Oh yeah for sure. I'd be happy to try one out in real life. I mean, at a range and safely. But for what it does in the game I gather people think the shield is too strong and needs to be nerf'd a bit. That's one of those things though. We think we know what a military grade riot shield would do in real life but how many of us can actually speak on the facts?

I'm sure there are a few and the devs may be receptive to hearing it. I can't speak for them.

Despite acting as though its your job to do so all day. You've attempted more damage control in the last 12 hours than the entire Downpour team has in the entirety of this whole dumpster fire.
I'm basically just here now to promote Contractors. No joke, the lobby count has grown like 10xs in the last week and it most definitely has to do with this

I don't act like it's my job. I am just bored, presumably like you. Programming isn't fun like a lot of movies depict and sometimes all we have are some forums nobody will ready and a ton of time to ready every word posted on it. It's a crack filler while compiling or committing to repos.

Contractors is viable though. I personally don't have a problem with a crusade to get people to play it more even if it is posted here. You mentioned mods in another thread, and that's something to explore. Some of the best games we played as kids, or probably plenty pathetically into our much later years, were mods to team fortress and a few others I forget the roots of them because they were barely the game of their former selves. The reservoir dogs mod was excellent.

Contractors at its base is not my favorite, but I could see how it would serve as an excellent foundation for modding that could turn that opinion around. I mean, I like Onward as milsim, but what I really want is a good Hong Kong shootout like John Woo old school days. If Contractors or Pavlov can deliver that feel, then I could see it becoming an obsession.
