I've just played in coop with a 5 years old kid (or 10, i don't know exactly), they are scared by the ambiance, not earing at all, not playing with the team and do anything (and be dangerous for the team).
Psychologically I don't think this kind of game is good for them.
I don't understand with parents buy a game like that to a children...
tbh these boomers are very toxic
Yeah toe exotic/baldheaded is so toxic and gets very salty haha
I do not think that this is a bad interpretation in view of the current particular situation (confinement) but I have been playing the game since long before this health situation and I have observed the same kind of behavior regularly.
Using the term "boomer" is not appropriate, it seems to me, because nothing implies this kind of behavior.
I think there are two kinds of people who play this game:
- Those who take the word developers and play closer "Mil-Sim".
- Those who play the game as if it were a basic FPS (in terms of gameplay, objectives and interactivity with the team) as if it were a popular FPS.
There are two levels of requirement, which I believe to be incompatible. Everyone must ask the question: "Is this the most suitable game for what I want?".
It should not be forgotten that many behave inappropriately as a team, whatever the game.
Honestly parents, even if there's only a low risk you could permanently damage your child for the rest of their lives, probably just play it safe with something as superfluous as VR right?
If you're a kid playing VR, seriously consider just leaving it alone until you're 18 for your own future. Having screwed up perception, co-ordination or eye-sight is not something anyone wants to live with
Being a parent and actually having two great teenagers who grew up with some restrictions on game play and movie's etc.
I grew up in Europe and played "war" in gear from young age and played in real bunkers etc and I have a deep "appreciation" on the horrors of ww2 ww1 etc and what ppl have gone through as I've absorbed everything history and real life stories etc what I could/can get my hands on. War is horrible (and NOTHING like the games we play). But playing "war" is a different matter and I've played with my kids from young age chasing each other with guns shooting foam bullets etc, just as we play tag.
like a game of paintball, it's a game.. let's not forget this?
(side note: I do worry about the realism games are bringing in, vr or not, for all ages, revelling in blood and gore)
The shock what I have actually experienced and I lose my **** is where adults and teens treating younger teens and kids VERY poorly and there is no accountability to their behaviour -I speak of other games than this as I actually cringe and not want to get into games like these BECAUSE of the poor behaviour of some of any age and would actually say the toxic behaviour some "adults" display is far worse than a kid doing some of the stuff discussed here.. Seriously ppl grow up, set an example, be a role model. We ALL have been kids and we all had to learn. Treat ppl with respect regardless of age. And don't think that playing a GAME like this makes anyone a soldier or bad-ass etc. keep your ego at home and go talk to some veterans to get a proper understanding..
rant over..
Some are talking about the blurred lines of reality of the game, your behaviour and treatment of others is REAL, and HAS effects on the younger. Making a post with this headline is definitely not a mature way to address something like this and is not giving respect to other "kids" (16y/old are still kids).. some great discussion came out of it tho.
Having said that, I would like to see an accountability system in place in games where ppl are held accountable as yes team killing and the like is not on but even more so toxic behaviour ppl would not do/or get away with in real life f2f.
what is in place?
At the same time also a safe place for new players that want to learn the game should be there and what is in place for this game?
I saw private servers ->hard to do if you're getting to know ppl to play with.
discord?
what is the community in general like?
Being a parent I can say it's difficult to put an age on things as my oldest was ready earlier for things than my youngest.
people can come in putting a fake age, but they also will know they are not welcome if their age dont meet the criteria, so they would probably be kicked out.
Im the one too who dont stand any kids voice on a war enviroment.
