I own both and I will say without a doubt I enjoy this much more than I ever enjoyed Squad if I am being honest.
I find it so hard to enjoy any FPS game on a monitor post onwards
Onward has the uniqueness factor, as the realism in having to duck behind cover IRL and fight with no 'game-y' features (like a HUD, magical sense of how much ammo is in your mag, etc.). The drawback is that, in these earliest of stages, 4V4 on relatively small maps makes it anticlimactic, at least when you find an enemy, engage, oh hey that was the last guy left... It just feels like the game ends too quickly, on average.
Squad is a much larger game, in terms of map size and player count, but that's balanced by being a normal M+KB game. It's a bit better about being action-packed throughout -- especially given respawns in some modes, and a huge player count in others -- but obviously is not nearly as mind-blowing since you're just using a mouse to aim and shoot.
970 is bare minimum for VR. Your 970 is never going to be able to run it perfectly.
I have many Squad hours, and still love it. Best miltary based fps out there by far.
But you simply cannot compare it to Onward, they are just so different in terms of experience due to the VR.
I am new to Onward, but will love that as well for sure.
Never said perfectly. But flickering black screen constantly should not happen either. I meant optimization.
I wasn't a moderator until today, but I have been a gamer forever. If I thought they were equal or Squad was better I would say it.
This is how I truly feel.
I can see myself playing more Onward as content is released.
This. No point to compare a VR game with a 2D game.
