Well, time and practice. Motion sickness is something that goes away with time as you get used to VR. So just short sessions at first until you start feeling sick - don't force yourself to continue. Eventually you should notice yourself being able to stay in for a longer time.

For some it's faster, for some it's slower. When I first started out, I could barely manage 30 minutes of in-game time on VR (in Serious Sam 3 VR - which is a bit more intense than Onward), and by the end of that game I could last two hours.

Your mileage may vary, but you should eventually adapt and stop feeling sick - as long as you pace yourself. It'll take some time - there's no magic way of getting used to it instantly.

+1 to what Rex said. When i first got VR I tried locomotion in AZ Sunshine and I couldn't last more than 5 minutes or so. I used teleport for a long time and I think that helped, presumably because it wasn't just the locomotion that caused it, but generally the whole VR experience. I got Onward a year later and by that time I had no issues with motion sickness even though Onward was the first game I had to use locomotion in. I believe it could have been a combination of the prep in other movement types, as well as some kind of weird internal determination to make it work for me because I was so into Onward.

4 or so years later and VR is no more nauseating than real life.

One caveat, some people never get used it it. Don't know exactly what % but some can never really play VR to it's fullest, some can't even play it with teleport even after trying for months.

I've played VR for a little over a year now. And can play most games for hours without any trouble. I have once Achilles, and that's climbing. I always got VR sick in boneworks and I couldn't understand why. Until I played medal of honor. And got to the climbing out of the ship mission and I got VR sick. Only mission in that game I've noticed anything and that explained boneworks as there is a lot of climbing in that game.

With time most people can get accustomed to high intensity movement in VR. But one thing to keep in mind is that video lag/latency can exponentially increase motion sickness. So higher refresh rate or higher FPS = Less motion sickness.

Been there... just a matter of getting used to it.. start with short stints.. play untill you start sweating a bit. then take a long break.. try again... you can make the stints longer and longer... might take a while tho... been doing 7 hours of 3-10 min stints before I could play a complete bot match (in Pavlov).. For me anything standing up was bad.. I could do barrel rolls in a plane or spaceship.. flipped some cars... no problem as long as I'm sitting. Standing up took me quite a bit to get used to. Hope this helps. Just recognize when you're going to get motion sick before actually getting sick. And really STOP, if you go on until you're actually sick, you are going to develop an aversion to standing vr..

You will acclimate to it. When you start to feel a little dizzy turn it off. Eventually you will not even feel it.
