What the hell happened to the zombie mode
Why the hell was it removed? It was the only reason I used to play this game!

When did they have that? Thank god they removed it, Zombies have no place in Onward.

I just got into VR. Sounds great to me. If you said that about Arma 2 or COD, then millions would have disagreed with you.
For F's sake STFU about zombies! If Onward had the budget of Arma or COD then great, waste all the dev time you want. Those of us who don't care for zombies would just ignore the game mode.

If that happened now, we would be trading useful additions to the structure of a damn near isolated game in uniqueness, non-BS saturated milsim for the whimsy of a demographic. If all these other FPS games have zombies, then PLAY THOSE! When you want to play uncluttered, non-cartoony milsim combat then turn to Onward. If a player is so dissatisfied by a lack of zombies that they won't buy the game or continue to play it, then F them. You couldn't keep them satisfied anyhow.

Or how about this, if you really think Onward needs zombies - MAKE YOUR OWN GAME! That's where Onward began. It's apparently possible and eventually, if you're lucky, you'll understand what it's like to have a vision for a game and have a handful of people harp all over your hard work by insisting you need to add poo emoji villains and a dance mode. If all other games have these modes, maybe it shows THEY have a lack of vision, and a desperation to conform.

F zombies. More maps, weapons, objectives... and fix the map selection screen.

Uh, 36, they ALREADY HAD THE ENTIRE MODE IN AND DEVELOPED. THE ENTIRE THING! They removed an entire gamemmode and it wasnt called zombies either for particulists. It was knife wielding volk against pistol wielding marsoc. It was so incredibly fun too, was faster pace than the slow, giant maps.
Then why even attribute it to zombies? What you described is an entirely different thing. If there were at least zombie skins it might pass on some very low crude level. I never played that game mode, so if it was indeed zombie enough to close this topic entirely, then great. bring it back.

To be clear, I agree with a zombie MOD. If someone branches, and makes a full on zombie version with zombie logic, then a-ok. But if the demand is for the devs to flesh that out, then that's where my psychotic rant comes from.

My only point is the time and support investment behind programming zombie spawn, animation, AI, etc to wrap within the current structure of the game. Plus, what would PvP be? That to me sounds like an allocation of time, money, energy, and potential hotfix public disaster that is not worth the trade off on the core game. On a mod, yes, absolutely. It would be spectacular. But that's a job for the community and not the devs.

I call it zombies because gameplay is equivilent to that in terms of how its actually played. And it was PVP, and it was already done. The devs had already done it.
Then in that case, I agree. They also limit gun game. However one wants to call them, the modes they already have should just be available always. As for the mode you refer to as zombies - Mr. Death reported that the game modes operate on a cycle. Gun game is the first week of the month. Next cycle is March 1st. It's possible the zombie mode you speak of is also on rotation and it will come back with gun game or whenever its allocated slot is. I'm sure the info is on their discord somewhere, or here, but I don't have the link at the moment. Maybe Mr. Death can provide that here, or you can find it and post that for everyone else.

Having it be on a rotation is incredibly stupid and I will not be happy even if the game mode is on rotation. It was the only fun thing left in this game and its now not availible.
Yeah I agree. The devs haven't explained why they chose to have it on rotation just yet.

It's possible from a dev standpoint they are collecting usage data and logging issues to release stable versions in the future. Unless they speak up on the subject, we can only speculate.

Mr Death... any thoughts on that?

The zombie mode was stable so far as I could tell, no glitches, no major balance issues (Only required teamwork, which many games require at times)
Oh no doubt it probably was, just that it may have been designed as a part of a branch that automatically places it in rotation whether or not it is stable. We don't know exactly what sort of distribution core Downpour has to handle their releases. Take a look at the select map screen between rounds. Not everything they do is logical, but they're pretty good about responding to public needs and pushing content. From a dev standpoint, I can see why they put the rotation in. But I feel it's premature. Hopefully they address that soon. Reach out to Mr. Death though - he's the liaison for Downpour development feedback. You can find him on their discord channel:

You'll get much faster attention there.

There was no rotation around when this mode was introduced, it was introduced not long after 5v5 was.

Weather those millions of people in those other games agree with me or not, I stand by my statement that Zombies have no place in Onward.

It was like Hidden: Source, and it was a great thing. No idea why would you make game modes seasonal, they don't impact the rest of the game.
If it has no place in Onward, then the Onward community would ignore it, just like CQB mode is ignored in Elite Dangerous, or how nobody *really* plays joke cars and tracks in Assetto Corsa.
They're there if you want to try them with your buddies, and everyone's happy.

If Onward is 2serious4fun game modes why keep stuff like Gun Game?

And speaking of gun game - Any reason why it's backwards? You're supposed to get handguns and other "crap" guns AFTER the good ones so the rest of the people can catch up. In Onward once you get through the handguns, it's a breeze because you get increasingly better SMGs and rifles until the knife, which then turns into a nightmare, because everyone's already at rifles and machineguns. It's not a complicated formula, why try to re-invent the wheel like that?
