Graphical settings
Does anyone know how the graphical setting affect supersampling? I'm finding I can't go to 1.4 supersampling any more on high settings. It was fine in the past but I've been away from onward for about a month and a bit. Have i7 6700 + 1070 gtx and 16gb ram.

Graphics settings does not affect supersampling as they are completely different things. Only thing that is somewhat similar is antialising but it's a different technique.

yeah i have a 8700k and 1080ti and i cant even run this game on 1.5 SS or above, i keep mine on 1.3

frames are good 90% of the time, but yeah this game does need some more performance improvements b4 i can crank my SS

It's more likely that your CPU is the bottleneck. They are working on multithreading more stuff if I understood it correctly so it should get much better for us with over 4 threads in the future. Have you tested to run fpsVR while playing to see if you GPU or CPU is the bottleneck?

Yes it is definitively the CPU bottlenecking.
I have a GTX1080 and with max settings + 1.5 SS it is "idling" at 60% utilization.
My i7 4770K (oc 4.4GHz) is going nuts though.

Mostly only getting 60 fps when my GTX would still have a lot of power.

This is definitively a huge CPU optimization problem.

for real

maybe thats why intel is dropping hyperthreading

i get pretty darn good fps while at 1.3 ss but as soon as smoke grenades get spammed i just loose all the fps

im on steamVR beta as well as rift and rift beta so idk if that helps

This is the only VR game that I "can't" run. GTX 1080 Ti and I'm playing it at 45fps 90% of the time. Only at the main menu and loadout screen do I get 90fps.

what cpu you got?

Ryzen R5 1600 w/ 16GB RAM @2933MHz. Both CPU and GPU usages are low while playing. Every other game runs just fine. Hell, I can't even supersample the Oculus version of the game with Oculus Tray Tool.

That config should be fine (have a friend with the same specs but 1070 instead of 1080ti who can run it fine). CPU usage is low due do having many cores while the game doesn't multithread that much if you looked at it in task manger and the GPU doesn't have to work so much if the CPU caps the frames so low. Have you tried running with the steam VR beta v1527117754?

I have the Oculus Version.
Try reinstalling it then or contact the devs for support I guess

First of all, going "High" on texures and shadow is somewhat fighting the supersampling setting. There's a sweetspot for the 1080p HMD and putting on sharper textures plus doing SS will end up in more flickering and blurry PQ. I run medium textures with 3.0 SS and get under 5% of reprojecting which is good for me. Over 10% and it's jittery and noticable. First gen VR like clear thick lines, that's why complex AAA type of titles won't look better.
