Is Beat Hazard the best rhythm game?
Yes it is.

Discussion is over now.

But it's not rhythm game.

I mean it's definitely not exactly the same sort of game as for instance Dance Dance Revolution or Elite Beat Agents or what have you but it's a game that uses music as input to generate levels whose pacing is very definitely based specifically on their rhythm.

On the other hand your Ritsu avatar automatically adds 30 correctness points to your argument, so there's that.

How can two videogames be exactly 100% equal in quality? Your premise makes no sense

No, Audiosurf is the best music driven game, but BH is a great game in it's own right.

holywar...
best music game is PATAPON!

I think it's the best rythm game that isn't "precise". It's hard to explain but let's put it like this: In DDR or elite beat agents, you push the buttons at the exact right time, and then you win. In audiosurf/beat hazard, you 'play' the music, but you aren't forced to hit specific notes or timings.

So yeah, I think there's no question beat hazard > audiosurf (OPINIONS), but I don't think you can compare it to games like guitar hero/DDR/etc, they are just two different subgenres of music games. You can't compare them just because they both have music.

It's like comparing call of duty to fallout because they both have guns.

I like how OP made this thread ostensibly to ask a question, but in actuality to force his opinion down everyone's throat.

That said, Phasair has a point: there aren't any other top down bullet hell games that generate levels based on the frequencies in music tracks in your library that I know of. I think both Audiosurf and Beat Hazard are good games, but they're also not similar enough to compare side by side.

Hell, they're not even the same genre. They both use a mechanic that turns music into levels, but that's it.

Though the OPs post was a rhetorical question, posting in the Beat Hazard discussion board certainly doesn't help, because it is inevitable that there will be Beat Hazard fanboys that come to the boards.

I agree with Phasair's point as well, though I wouldn't say Beat Hazard is > Audiosurf. Admittedly, I have played longer on Beat Hazard, but they're both equally as good in my opinion. If I want to go over some songs to grind a bit, I'll play Beat Hazard, but if I want to just relax, I'll play Audiosurf. I'd say Symphony would be a far better comparison to make to Beat Hazard. With Beat Hazard vs Symphony, I would say Beat Hazard comes out on top; perhaps this is just because Symphony is a relatively new venture though.
