asian gaming culture also tends to be radically different in comparison that without restrictions things can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ messed up pretty badly due to loophole , botting and just general gameplay abuse and afaik kr mmos had stamina since as early as 2005 i believe, kr mmo had stamina/fatigue for so long that kr mmo's these days has their balance, economy, progression etc revolving around how much stamina/fatigue a player generally has for the day that these days its less of a restriction and is just a measuring stick in disguise so removing it is opening a whole other can of worms
for the record dfo bck during nexon's era in 2009-2013 at one point removed the limitation on fp making it unlimited and giving bonus for how much u used, with a little help from nexon and their incompetency dfo quickly went to hell and died, now dfog playerbase and developers/publishers realizes the danger of no fatigue that not only arent gonna be changing it but nearly a month ago when closers announced that they're removing stamina/fatigue from their EU and NA servers dfo reddit had a field day with out terrible of a decision and desperate of a move it was https://www.reddit.com/r/DFO/comments/8tqicu/thoughts_on_closers_online_removing_their_fatigue/
Doesn't korean version run on separate servers by separate publisher anyways?
localization of kr mmo doesnt hav to follow kr rules or laws for the most part, vindictus did away with its token system not long after its launch in NA which quickly inflated its economy and i already said closers is going to be doing away with its own stamina system too but anyone can tell how desperate of a move this was, the problem with this is that fatigue/stamina is so prevalent and ingrained into kr's mmo culture that its basically the measuring stick whole games uses to balance themselves around so taking it away is basically kickstarting anarchy
imagine reality where people cannot physically get tried, labor union doesnt exist because there a lack of restriction, laws regarding child labor doesnt exist either and not even overtime pay as a concept, market prices would then be base off of the standard of the richest who spend who knows how long grinding their money out and employment would only likely hire those who're willing to slave themselves away indefinitely, this is basically wut games that base itself around a stamina system would be like if removed cept with the additions of botters and gold sellers running rampant too
dnf had fp since its conception in kr in 2005 and been balanced around it, dfo also personally experienced how it would be like without without a fp limited too and that alone is wut started dfo's apocalypse to service closure till neople decided to reboot it without the involvement of its previous publisher, they followed none of its practice and kept fp unchanged to match kr, the result; dfo at this point not only lasted longer then it did under nexon but its also mor healthier and balanced then it has ever been with no real danger of closing down anywhere in sight despite wut the initial fp naysayers touted
removing stamima from a game based around it is risky decision and in most cases do mor harm then wut is believe to be good, freedom is a good thing but freedom without restraint is cancerous, ur free to hate the concept of stamina/fatigue in games itself but unless u can actually prove that its a deterrent in general or even to just a specific game u dont really hav any validity or credibility regarding it and since dfo personally experienced why it would be extremely bad to remove fp it can effectively argue in opposition to prove y ur wrong in wut u think
kdnf run on a different server and is published by KR nexon which neople is a subsidiary of but dfog is a personal project by neople's CEO at that time and without the involvement of the previous publishers which is NA nexon, nexon doesnt fund dfog but they still own neople who is publishing dfog on their own accord and thus free revenue, dfog team cant do any drastic change but the fact that they hav no bck up and is understaffed means they hav to go outa their way if they wannna do any original content too which if the occasion arise the dfog team r all too happy for as shown in their streams
I mean warframe has chinese version, and it can't play with the rest of the world.
Imagine if warframe got stamina implemented. Or Path Of Exile.
Idk why china has an isolated war frame and since Ik some other games there that aren't like that Ima just chalk this up as being an exception with china just being china again or something instead of an example to follow
Not every game works with a stamina or can even use it, dfo needs it specifically to curb overfarming, balance its economy and deter botting, how this concept would work with other game is an unknown and depend on the rest of game but in general not all stamina systems r the same, for example: elsword allows unlimited usage of stamina potions because they can run outa stamina pretty fast as it's percent base from killing mobs and their gameplay revolves around spd clearing as fast as possible, their economy and balance even in kr is also royally messed up too while closers consumed a fixed amount per dungeon which varies by dungeon and even has a weekly stamina cap for somebody strange reason no one can comprehend so how a stamina system would be implemented or if at all depend on the game itself, there's also the longtivity and lifespan to take into consideration too as dfo's end game progress can take mor then a year while some others can take a few months but in the end the lack of restriction, balance or curbing of activities tends to be wut decides the longtivity of a game the most as it's disastrous in the long run if not regulated, ofc there's r ways to delay a dying game like elsword does with its constant cash grab marketing and poor class balance (or rather imbalance) but it's pretty much a deconposing zombie atm
As for the stamina system, I usually dislike it too, but it isn't so bad in DFO. Each character has a seperate fatigue bar, and you actually get account-wide benefits by levelling alts. There is no "pay if you want unlimited stamina" like in other F2P games.
I understand it's not for everyone, though. Especially for those that want to focus exclusively on a single char for hours.
Funny how you mention Path of Exile, I've played both and I like way more DFO since it has better balance in every aspect, plus better QoL, item drops and less RNG grindfest than PoE, despite the stamina restrictions. Plus DFO has stamina limits, PoE has a small inventory/storage space that gets filled fast, and buying extra storage (with $$$ only) can be considered as a gameplay advantage since you can store and organize more full sets to sell (vendor-recipe) for chaos orbs ( which is treated as in-game currency). And unlike DFO, you can't buy cosmetics with in-game money from other players. You have to shell out more $$$.
DFO is no perfect but it's still fun to play despite the shortcomings, at least for me who also enjoy playing with alts.
Anyway for me FP is quite cool feature, when I play something or specifically farm something it gets dull for me if I don't stop at certain point. FP point comes in handy at that point it reminds me to work on something else or a different character.
I usually play with FP express on to burn it. It was quite odd for me too when I join in 2016 but I got used to it and got to know the other side of it.
Maybe Neople/ KR rule makers know this and they use this to their advantage. ;p
With FP System you will never get bored.
End game is all about exploring characters, farming gears and fashion.
kr doesnt hav a problem with bots since ur account needs to be attached to a kr ssn while china just let them run loose, NA/global dfo on the other hand would need a way to regulate them which is where fp comes in among other reasons for its existence
